Hi all, I'm new here, I'm 32 years old and I have a 2 year old son.  I was diagnosed with IDC on 5/5, had a mastectomy of the left breast with tissue expander reconstruction on 6/5 and started chemo on 7/1.  My official stage was 2A (T1, N1, M0).  I'm doing TAC, I'm done with 2 treatments.  The pathology after surgery showed that the tumor was 1.8 centimeters (much smaller than what the MRI had predicted - they had said 4.4) and 4 of 19 lymph nodes were affected.

I was hoping to start trying for another baby before the end of the year and instead now I'm just hoping I will get to see my little boy grow up.  It's been a rough road so far to stay the least but I'm trying to remain optimistic.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all.

hi Lauren :)  I too was diagnosed this year at age 32.  I'm doing TAC also, just had my 2nd treatment last Monday.  I look forward to swapping stories/experiences with you!  Stay strong, we CAN do this!

    Hi Lauren,

I was diagnosed on September'08 at 35 yr old. My son was 3 years and my daughter was 18 months. So I know all the unknows that BC cancer generates, specially the ones related to young children. I went through mastectomy with immediate reconstruction (silicon implants in right breast), chemo (TC) and radiotherapy (slight one due to not damage the implants). Now on Tamoxifen for 5 years and trying to get to 'normal' life again

My message is that even if it is difficult, there is an end to the treatment: stay positive, try to live your life as normal as possible! Courage as we say in France!

Wow, thanks ladies.  I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy but it's good to know I am not alone.  I have a lot of support from my family and friends - but - nobody really knows how it feels unless they are going through it.

    Hi Lauren,

This is the first time i have written on here...

I am 29 and was diagnosed early this year. I had a mastectomy and will be having my last chemotherapy in 2 weeks (which I am very excited by) with herceptin to continue for a year, followed by Tax etc. I'm not sure what it's like to do this with kids... unfortunately i have not reached that phase of my life, but i do know that while it is tough you just have to do it. We have too much riding on a positive outcome. And we need to survive.

    All the best
