Funny to read your comments about Catholic School. I am a product of 13 years of Catholic school (starting with kindergarten). I graduated high school in 1980. There was a huge change some where a long the line while I was going to school. I have an older brother and sister who are 10 and 11 years older than me. They went all through school with boys and girls separated. I never did. And apparently only learned about the new testament. I remember my mother being shocked by how much time we spent studying the old testament. And, of course, we never read the Bible on our own, too much danger that we'd misinterpret it. But, I must say, I think I got a pretty thorough religious education. Maybe ignorance is just bliss for me.

Hi ladies... I am a product of catholic school too 12 years and my kids are as well both in hs .. I had the old fashioned nuns the ones that terrified you... my kids have very very few if any clergy teaching them now... that is a big difference I noticed...
looking forward to prayers tonight..

Well Sheila, I remember watching the movie a long time ago ... as soon as you described it, I could picture it, but I splatted on the title, so I cheated and looked it up ... Frank Capra's Lady for a Day? I was kind of surprised to see the cast... I was thinking Apple Mary was Bette Davis or someone more "famous".
I thought you were mixing up Betty and Apple because of the dessert! Isn't there an Apple Brown Betty? Now I'm getting hungry for something appley.
Mary - I'm happy to hear you are doing well. "Totally functional and appear to be doing well" is about as good as it gets! ;-)
I was telling this to Skip on the way home and we laughed, but you gals probably can relate. I was sitting in my office minding my own business waiting for the HP man to come and bring me my new laptop. My desk faces the door and next to the door is a full-length frosted glass window. I heard someone outside my door and saw a cart being pushed up in front of the glass. For a brief second, I had a PTSS moment. I thought that cart was a gurney pulling up next to my room ready to take me to surgery!!! Oh, it gave me a fright! I had to laugh at myself when I recovered... it was the HP guy bringing an empty cart to take away my old computer. It's amazing how the mind can play tricks on us for absolutely NO reason. I wasn't thinking about BC or surgery or anything like that. I was getting ready for the HP guy. Just when you think you have all your marbles, you have moments like that that tell you otherwise! :-)
Here is a nice tidbit from Bishop Fulton Sheen to provide us some food for thought!
"Which stands up better in a crisis - man or woman? The best way to arrive at a
conclusion is to go to the greatest crises the world ever faced, namely the CRUCIFIXON
OF OUR DIVINE LORD. When we come to this great drama of Calvary there is one fact
that stands out very clearly: Men failed. On the other hand, there is not a single
instance of a woman's failing him."
-Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen"See" you all tonight for prayers.

Dear Lord,
Give me a pure heart for You, Lord. Place in my life a genuine goodness that comes from Your mercy as I face hurt, let me find ways to share a spirit of fellowship, faith, and love with others. I want the great things to shine so brilliantly that they distract me from my pain.
This time in my life once felt like a time of slumber, of closing, of restriction. Only now am I seeing that it is a time or renewal, creation, opening, and abundance. May I keep my heart in this place of awareness and awakening so that I do not miss what You are sharing with me.
Amen.

Lord,
Simply said, Thank you.
Blessings for ALL of my Sisters, in various places in our journeys. I pray for prosperity and happiness in all endeavors. Please grant us the opportunities to grow and live. Special intentions for all that we may have enough for food on the table, shelter, clothing, and health care. Please God, hear our trials and give us solutions and opportunities. Block all those who have ill intent, and turn their ire back onto them. Let us shine in our lives, show confidence when before we may have felt fear, and I pray that our ever widening circle of Sisters clasp our hands together in solidarity.
Amen.

Day and night I cry to you, my God.
You are in our midst, O Lord,
Your name we bear:
do not forsake us, O Lord, our God! (Jeremiah 14:9a)From homily by St John Chrysostom, bishop
Prayer stands before God as an honored ambassador. It gives joy to the spirit, peace to the heart. I speak of prayer, not words. It is the longing for God, love too deep for words, a gift not given by man but by God's grace. The apostle Paul says: We do not know how we are to pray but the Spirit himself pleads for us with inexpressible longings.Protect us Lord as we stay awake; watch over us as we sleep,
that awake, we may keep watch wtih Christ, and asleep, rest in his peace.All-powerful God,
keep us united with your Son
in his death and burial
so that we may rise to new life with him,
who lives and reigns forever and ever. - Amen
