here a little story i would like to share with you,a friend of mine e-mailed  it to me when my mother was first diagnosed with MBC,strangely it was fall too.

 a man lifting a cross over his shoulder complaining of being so heavy to carry ,decided to cut a piece of it, while his friends didnt. arriving into a deep cleft ,everyone used his cross to pass over,but him ,the cross becoming so short ,was not long enough,and he was left behind.?????

I've read your posts, Marie, and see that you have used the trial of your sweet mother as a way to grow closer to God and rely on His strength to help you, especially with the situation in your beautiful country of Syria.  I keep you and your people in my prayers, especially the innocent women and children who are the heart of their homes.  Blessings of peace to you and your family, Marie.

I think this  story you posted is a very good analogy of our lives. Its message of carrying a cross is like carrying the trials or "tests" we receive in this life.  If we use them for our benefit--to grow closer to God and become a stronger, more loving and grateful person--these attributes we've gained from our trials  will help us live a happier life and return to our Heavenly Father.  I believe it's similar to the story of the 10 virgins in the Bible.  5 had enough oil in their lamps plus extra, while  5 had only that which was in their lamps.  The 5 wise women couldn't "share" their extra oil with the other five because the extra oil they brought was personally earned by their choices in life.  It was acquired by their personal efforts to do what was right, to draw closer to God, to develop their testimonies of Jesus Christ and be prepared for being in His presence.

This is the hymn I'd like to share.  We sang it in church last Sunday and it filled my heart with joy.

My favorite two comfort songs as of right now are by a duo known as MaMuse.  They're from Chico, CA and just won the best duet contest on Prairie Home Companion.  They sing "Hallelujah" and a beautiful a capella rendition of "Calling All Angels".  Not religious, but spiritual.
