With all the talk about health insurance changes and the politicking around it, I don't know what to believe.  I thought I was in favor of single payer - but now I'm not so sure.  What I would like is for anyone who has had a problem getting treatment due to insurance post their stories.  I especially want to hear from folks from Canada and the UK as well as US.

I have not had any problems - on Medicare with AARP supplement.

Thanks, Claire

    Hi Claire:

Checkout the Help Me Get Through Treatment Forum and go to the Health care in America vs Other Countries thread.  Lots and lots of information there about universal healthcare -- Canada, UK, Australia, France etc.

From all I've read, you're extremely fortunate not to be having any insurance problems!

    Cheers, Linda

Thanks, Linda.  You were right - that thread had exactly the information I needed to make my decision.  My original thoughts were correct - universal health care is a must.

If you go to the link that Bluedahlia posted on that thread and look at the stories you will find lots of horror stories from Canadians.  Well so they say, there might be an agenda there.

In my 30 years in Canada I had a delay in radiation beyond the optimal time for my first BC, and I had a couple long waits in the ER with two of my sons, they got patched up but we had to wait.

That's the best I can do in to horror story department.
