Looking for information

Hi,

I am looking for some information about symptoms of IBC.  This is for my aunt.  She had a mammogram yesterday and while nothing showed up on the mammogram, the tech commented on her nipple being inverted and it was also bleeding.  She said she has noticed blood on her nightgown in the past.  I believe she also has had a clear discharge.  The radiologist is sending her to a breast surgeon and she commented that her milk ducts are dilated.

 She has no other symptoms or at least that she is sharing.  I was wondering if any of this sounds familiar to anyone?  

Any help is appreciated.

How nice of you to write on behalf of your Aunt!  The characteristic symptoms of IBC mimic that of an infection in the breast (mastitis, like during breast feeding) where the breast is huge, red/purple, swollen.  I did not have nipple inversion but I heard it is a symptom.  The areola (around the nipple) had an orange peel look and that is very characteristic too.  Hope that helped.

Your Aunt needs to have a skin punch biopsy- that is the best way to test for IBC.  Hopefully she doesn't-   You are a good niece.    Tami
