Doctor is letting me wean off Effexor!

Options

I've been on Effexor extended-release for about two years now.  My doctor (psychiatrist) bumped me up to the maximum dosage - 450 mg/day.  Two pills in the morning and one in the evening.  Several months ago, he and I determined that it wasn't working the way it should and he started me on Cymbalta.  The intention at that time was to switch me gradually from Effexor to Cymbalta.  I've been on the maximum dosage - 60 mg/day - of Cymbalta for a few months now.

I went in to see him today to inquire about switching to a generic form of Effexor, as my co-pays for that script are $50.  Turns out there is one, and he had some samples for me.  I also reminded him about possibly weaning me off it so that I'm only taking Cymbalta.  He told me that I can do it, with his help.  So he's cut the dosage in half for now.  I see him again in 4 weeks for us to reevalute how I'm doing with that, and we might knock it down further.

It will be such a relief to me to be taking one less script!  It'll help me start to feel "normal" again, after all this time.  Of course, there is still the arimidex, the calcium I take with that, and two diabetes meds, as well as blood pressure meds, cholesterol meds, and something for triglycerides.

I rattle when I walk.  But I at least won't rattle quite as much now, I guess!

Another good thing is that I'm getting to where I'm better able to fall asleep at night without the help of Rozerem.  And my dreams aren't missing me!
