I started in 2006 with taxol and Herceptin for Hers2 breast cancer matastisized to the liver. After 10 weeks stoped the taxol but continued with Herceptin and Xeloda for one year and then continued two years just on Herceptin. When it stoped working I started with Tykerb & Xeloda. I really don't know what to expect in side effects. So far it's just been diaria. I have the nail ridges ever since Taxol and they don't get better.I would like to here from anyone who has taken it for some time.

An update--- Had to stop Tykerb because of diarea and vomiting. I took it for nine days with xeloda. Doc put me on increased xeloda alone. I wonder what's next.

I was recently diagnosed with Breast cancer having a liver metastasis. Since 3 weeks ago as part of a trial, I am receiving, Texol once a week and 1250mg Tykerb daily. Thank god, at this point, I have almost no side effects apart from getting tired more easily. I hope it will go on like this. It seems that the side effects are very individual. I wish you good health and hope you will tolerate well your new treatment.

An update. Off the Xeloda and Tykerb and on to Abraxene and Herceptin. the Xeloda and Tykerb had too many side effects and no improvment. I may be going from the frying pan into the fire.

I am also on Tykerb and Xeloda.  LOTS of diarrhea and hand and foot syndrome.  Quite painful with swelling, splitting skin, bleeding, and blisters.  But, I'll put up with those side effects as long as I can because the two new chemos seem to be really working on my inflammatory breast cancer.  (It is my second diagnosis.  Original dx with IDC in April 2008.  Now IBC in June 2009.)  I had previously taken Adriamycin, Cytoxin, Taxol, Herceptin.
