Am I the only one with page formatting problems?

I was away from the board for a few days and when I signed back on yesterday, I discovered that the formatting of the threads has changed.  While the initial post in each thread looks normal, when I scroll down to read the responses, instead of the individual's name and picture & other info taking up about 1/4 of the width of the page, it now takes up just under 1/2 of the page - squeezing the posts into a much smaller area.  This makes it awkward and uncomfortable to read posts since many don't fit onto a single screen page.  I use both Internet Explorer and Firefox and I only have this problem with Internet Explorer.

Is it just me or does anyone else have this problem?  I haven't seen any other mention of it so I'm thinking it might just be me.

    Hi Bessie,

My format changed also.  Don't you just love computers?

Beesie, the column width for screen name & avatar has not changed on my screen. I'm using Firefox on a Mac, though, which probably explains why it looks okay.

    Hi All,

Any chance those of you on Internet Explorer can give us more information?  The two things that would be most helpful are:

    1) Operating System (e.g. Windows XP Professional, SP2)

     2) Browser (e.g. Internet Explorer 6.0)

Also, is this happening all over the Boards, or just on a few pages?  If just a few pages, please paste in the URL/link for that page.

     Thank you!

Happens on all of the pages.  I'm on Vista and Internet Explorer 8.0.

I have solved the problem. I'm using Internet Explorer 8 and the format for this board when I first arrived was as Beesie described. Then I turned on IE 8's Compatibility View, which rolls back the way IE 8 renders pages to the way IE 7 would. The page refreshed and appeared as it's supposed to. To turn on Compatibility View in IE 8, click the icon to the right of the address bar that looks like a broken piece of paper. It will refresh the page and then it should look as it's intended to look.

I refuse to update my Internet Explorer browser to IE8 because of all sorts of problems people have been experiencing - and falling back to IE7 is really difficult. Check out the following information:

This format with the member information is irritating. It's still happening, why haven't they fixed it.  It makes the poster comments very narrow and you are scrolling forever .. what a huge waste of space!

IE 6 and Windows ME and I have problems.  And yes, I know that I should give up and buy a new computer.  I cannot upgrade my browser, but am hoping to delay buying a new computer until Vista's replacement arrives.

Use Firefox for your browser instead of IE8 - click here for a free download:
