Help Sleeping

Options

Hi,

I've been having a very hard time falling asleep lately, does anyone have a natural (no drug) approach that has been working for them? A friend has mentioned night yoga sessions, and I've signed up, but I was hoping one of you ladies had found a method that worked well. I think it's anxiety and I can't seem to relax which is keeping me awake.

 Thanks, Courtney

Hi, Countney ~  Well, I'm probably spoiled, but my DH gives a great foot rub, and it works every time.  Seriously.  Like a bit of reflexology.  Other than that, I've had periods when I've used a very natural stress relief herbal product -- not one formulated for sleep (I've tried several of those, but they often leave me groggy, or worse, don't work) -- so just something formulated to relieve stress.      Deanna

Melatonin. And it's good for breast cancer also.

Definitely try melatonin- it works for me and I don't feel groggy in the morning.  Tami

Dear Courtney, I have slept better since I put thicker curtain in my room (I kow this sounds patronising but  I heard a sleep expert on the radio say that if you sleep badly, a really  dark room will help.  It does). Also, I have a camomile cushion, and when I can get hold of it a hop cusion which are calming.

    Sweet dreams -

Courtney, I keep a CD of relaxation music on low inmy bedroom at all times and NO TV......I thought I could not live without a TV in my bedroom but I found I can and it really helps.....So do the dark curtains like London-Virginia suggested too....Good luck.....

thanks for all the suggestions, i never thought about the curtains. we don't have a tv, so that's not a prooblem, but i have moved my computer out of my room. I noticed that the more time I spent on the computer, the more tired I felt, so I've only allowed myself 15 minutes in the morning. I seems to have helped the last few days. Will pick up some melatonin. Thanks everyone.

L-Tryptophan is supposed to help; check out the user reviews on www.vitacost.com  I've been taking it for about a week, but so far I haven't had any improvement in my sleep.  I really can't shut off my brain enough to sleep; never seem to feel sleepy just tired.  I usually have to resort to ativan or ambien; which I hate having to use, but not sleeping is even worse.
