copied from the other thread:
I'm on the phone at this minute with Saint.
I am going to transcribe her thoughts to you.
In the midst of this knock-down, I've had lots of time to feel sorry for myself.
I made the EXTRA effort to get to church this morning...... and heard a wonderful homily about how we have everything we need to solve life's problems. I thought that was 'why' I had made the effort to go. And then at the passing of the peace, a friend carried her handicapped 12 year old over to offer me "peace."
Her perfectly healthy toddler was stricken with seizures 10 years ago, she now has a 12 year old in a wheel chair who is blind, incommunicative. and likely deaf. SHE was the reason I felt the 'call' to go to church.
SHE was the message I was seeking.
Her faith and strength are a witness to anyone who would just turn their head.
So after a good cry and a full explanation to my college-boy, I 'got' what I was 'seeking' today.
No matter how bad it gets, somebody has is worse. Hug your healthy kids today. Thank God for your healthy kids today. I got to hug my healthy kids today.
Though I'm still knocked-down, but not feeling as sorry for myself.
Please say a prayer for moms who have very special challenges.
Be well and stay strong.

Saint, that is a powerful message that we all need to be reminded of, and reminded often. Parents who care for special needs children have always humbled me beyond belief. They surely must have the comfy chairs in heaven
Love and hugs all around sistahs. -
Oh Saint, how true your message is!.......I often forget that message and it is such a good thing to hear it again to remind me.......My Momma always told me when she was so sick that no matter how sick she was there was always someone worse off.......I never understood what she meant til I grew up and went theough my own bout with bc......I have met so many who are so much worse off than me.......Saint, you are the epitomy of strength to me.....You have every right to break down and cry just like the rest of us.......Gentle hugs and love to you, sweet sister.......
Faith thank you so much for your posts.......I swear you two are like two peas in a pod!.......Love you both bunches and bunches...... -
I love those "God hugs" that he send to remind us.... hope all's well at the Saint house today...

Thanks Saint. Your message is very true. Reminds me of when I got my dx on a Thursday and then in church the next Sunday read the many prayer requests for so many others who were experiencing so much worse, children with luekemia, various cancers, etc. and it made my problems pale in comparison. I also raised a son, 26 in a few weeks, who has cerebral palsy from birth. As a single parent (my choice by adoption) it has not been easy for either of us.
This is not to minimize what each of my BC sisters are experiencing. We all have our issues and handle it in different ways. Our challenges are no easier than others but it does help to keep a perspective.
Prayers continuing for you Saint and Faith.

I having been reading this thread since it started. Saint and Faith have been a real inspiration to me. I have been praying daily for you ladies. I read this in my daily devotion from the Cancer Recovery Foundation this morning and instantly thought of you both. I'm at certain that you ladies have been a blessing and a real joy to our Heavenly Father!

Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.
Hebrews 13:16Cancer survivors realize they need to give as well as receive. It is dangerous when we get so caught up in our own limitations and struggles. As we retreat further and further within ourselves, we lose a vital perspective about the larger world. We forget that there is life beyond cancer. But it is by reaching out, by opening ourselves up to others and their lives and by sharing our gifts and blessings, we begin to grow and change in significant ways. Soon, as we look beyond ourselves, we experience new ideas, new answers and new attitudes, so many that are positive and good. This is the beginning of our healing. It is what we are created to do. It is an essential part of our hope.
I can all too easily get caught up in my own problems. I can get so self-absorbed that I miss the joy and love around me. So today, O God, I will try to look beyond myself to see a better perspective. Today, I ask for your help. Amen.
Peace & Love, Patty

from the other thread:
Saint and I spent quite a bit of the morning on the phone.
Today was her 'turn' to talk me 'up.'
It's so amazing to know how we can reciprocate for each other.
Please keep the prayers coming for her.
This morning I read every post on this thread, since I'd last read them to her.
We laugh & cry together over your additions.

As wonderful as I'm sure it is for the two of you to share these posts during your phone conversations, we are all looking forward to Saint getting her special new glasses that will let her comfortably read the well wishes herself, and make so much of her world closer to normal.
Keep bringing each other up, and we'll keep the prayers coming.
The gentlest of hugs for both of you.

Saint, I was thinking how much love and caring
You bring to us. You are very special. Caring hugs, Footprintsangel

I'm on the phone, acting as 'secretary' again. Here's Saint & her thoughts for the day:
I LOVE YOU, TOO!!!!! ALL OF YOU!!!!
Thanks for your support, love and prayers.
The glasses:
I have to order a new pair of prescription glasses, which I did yesterday. When those glasses arrive, I have to go back to the University/Madison...... they will 'attatch' whatever prisms or 'things' whatever they will do to embellish the glasses. I don't know that it will be the same day -- or if it will require a return trip to pick them up.
I am not expecting to have the glasses for at least 10 days to two weeks. I wonder if I will have pulled out all of my hair by then????? All my eyes are good for right now, is napping.
Despite this situation, I am still going out for coffee or lunch, on occasion. And I am NOT driving, so everyone is safe. LOL.
I get plenty of 'furry' love here at home. Still making it thru the day with the help of your prayers.
We are both liking this format of 'reporting' first person.... It just dawned on me, that if anyone wants to send me/Saint a PM, please send it to faithandfifty and she will read it to me and respond there, as I am unable to read at the computer at all these days.
Be well and stay strong.

I love how Faith and Saint are working as a team - seems fun for both of them, like it was ordained to be that way. Makes Faith work LOL.
-
How incredibly wonderful the bond that Faith and Saint have! You two, by example, show us how to have grace and courage, faith and love and strength no matter how rough it gets.
Hugs to both of you!!!
-

There's nothing like having a "soul-mate" or "kindred spirit" in other words a BFF!!! Thank you two for letting us share in your friendship!!!! ((((((((((((Saint)))))))))))))) (((((((((((((Faith)))))))))))))
-
May I hang on Arnie's coattails and say.........AMEN.
-
I so love catching up with Faiths "minutes" from her talks with Pat...
((((SAINT))))) ((((FAITH)))) you're both so special!!!
-
(((((Saint))))) (((((Faith))))) have a good restful sleep tonight!
-
Hugs to you both, sweet sisters.....
-
((( Saint ))) I don't want to tire Debbie by writing too much that she'd have to relay to you, and I'm not nearly as amusing as some of the other posters, so I'll just send another bucket of prayers and lots of love and hugs.
