My dh and I have just returned from our first American concert.  Now, we have been to many concerts in Canada.  And we have heard about the difference between the Canadian and American concerts.  However, I was not prepared for the party atmosphere that surrounded this concert.  We were in Indiana to see Rascal Flatts and Darius Rucker (Hootie).  We had been warned that the roads to the venue would  be flooded early on so we took our books and arrived there at 5:00.  There were already cars and police everywhere.  Tailgate parties were all around us.  People were setting up camping areas by their vehicles.  Horseshoe and bean bag games were in abundance.  One of our neighbors had a margarita maker running off of his car battery.  The wooded area was the favored bathroom.  Drinks were flowing and radios were blaring.

Now, in Canada, the police would have swooped in at the first sign of open liquor in a public area. In the US, they just watched all the antics.  Of course, the drinking continued once the gates were opened.  Sadly, there were some young people drunk out of their minds.  A couple of girls wet themselves as they waited in line to use the washroom.  Medics had to come to the aid of another that passed out in the line up.  But most of the people were quite orderly.  And they sure enjoyed the evening.  The concert went on for 3 hours and they brought the house down!!

I can't wait to see Brad Paisley and Dierks Bently in Michigan in July!  I might even try to join in on one of the tailgate parties there!
