Sleeping Problems

Hi Ladies,

I still have trouble sleeping on my left side where I had my BC, SNB and radiation.  I can only take it for about 10 minutes and then it starts hurting.  I thought it would get better with time but its been 2 1/2 years since treatment.  Do any of you still have that problem?  I talked to my surgeon and she thinks it is the after effects of radiation.  I talked to my Radiologist and she thinks it is the after effects of my SNB.  I'm interested to hear from any of you who have this problem.

Thanks,

Nancy

Hi Nancy..I'm not sure that this is the same thing, but up until my recent implant surgery, I had experienced chronic pain and reduced range-of-motion around the outer quadrant of my bc-affected breast. It didn't make me lose sleep, but I was always aware of the pain, especially when trying to stretch the area or if I wore something especially tight there. I've always chalked it up to effects from radiation and recall Shirlann ( a poster here on bc.org) mentioning a condition called costochondritis whcih can be caused by a number of processes with rads being one of them. Maybe this is what you're experiencing?

Fortunately for me, the area seems to have "released" or something since the implant surgery, but since I'm not fully healed yet and will actually need a bit of a re-do, I can't be sure what the future holds. I guess, for me, I can handle the pain as long as it doesn't indicate something serious but, as i said, it never affected my sleep.
