Armpit pain

I was diagnosed with IDC last November, had my right breast removed in December.  My tumor was small and there was no nodes involved and I could have gone with a lumpectomy, but after GREAT deliberation I chose the mastectomy.

I did not have Chemo and was started on Femera.

The past month I've been having pain (not real bad) in my arm pit.  It's in the upper left part near the crease that goes up to my shoulder.  I thought at first that it was the bra rubbing against that area so I stopped wearing the mastectomy bra and form and got a soft sports bra to see if that would help.

It didn't.  My question is, is this something I should be concerned about even though the tumor was small and no lymph node involement?...........well, could they have missed something? or could it still come back even though it was so small????????

I, too, have had the underarm pain since my mastectomy.  But it has been there since the surgery and the surgeon and the oncologist have checked it out.  I did have lymph nodes removed and a nerve cut there, so I did expect some problems.

If you did NOT have pain after surgery and it is just starting now, I would have it checked.  No use just worrying about it.  Could be a number of things, like scar tissue forming, etc.  I would rather go and hear it is nothing than wait and be sorry that I waited so long.

Yeah, I'm kind of scared. I have pain and what feels like a lump under my arm on my  cancer side.  Fortunately, I have my 3 month visit with my onc tomorrow.  I'm sure it is nothing, but now every little thing...causes some worry. JoyY, get it checked out, like Nelia said it could be a number of things, and it is best to know.

It may be due to nerves repairing themselves since the SNB surgery. I have had twinges around my breast scar and have been told that the nerves can take up to a year to repair themselves and cause occasional pain.

KEW, let me know what the doc says.  I was having problems with the femara so I have stopped taking it and am supposed to follow up with the onc on June 23rd.  I will be discussing this with him.

Bluedasher,  I first was thinking it was the nerves repairing themselves too.  But it's not that 'jolt' type of pain.  It's an aching type pain. It doesn't really hurt bad, but just enough to be annoying, and paranoid.

JoyY--I'm having an ultrasound this morning.  The onc thinks I'm feeling chest wall that is more palable since so much native tissue was removed during the mx.  I will update when I know anything.  Thanks for caring.

    Karen,

Sorry I haven't been around for a couple of days.  How did things go?
