Precocious growth and puberty = Breast Cancer?

Hello,

I am hoping that anyone out there might be able to point me in the right direction on this topic - or give me any thoughts or personal input or suggestions to help me out on this.

I am a three year breast cancer survivor - (not of African decent) - so my thoughts are maybe I had to go through these three years of hell to help other people - to maybe help prevent another young person from getting diagnosed with breast cancer.............. So here I am sticking my nose into something I know little about..............

So here it is:

My friend has adopted two little girls from Hattie - one is now seven years old and the newest addition to the family is a three year old.  The seven year old girl has been here now for 4 years.  The doctors are doing a bunch of testing because they are saying that she has precocious growth and will hit full on puberty by the age of eight or nine.  She is way taller than any other seven year old children in her class and has started developing the early signs of puberty now. The doctors call this precocious growth and puberty.

So this is what I wonder about, as people from Hattie are of African Decent - is there a link between early puberty and breast cancer?

I am worried for this little girl as the doctors have now placed her on a whole bunch of hormone treatments - but do they really know the long term effects of doing this to a seven year old??

I wonder if this is just the normal growth pattern for girls from Hattie - and that the North American doctors really just don't know enough about what is happening and are messing around with something they shouldn't be.

So I was just wondering if any one out there could shed some light on this from personal experience on this topic or pass on any web links that would have some information about this. Any thoughts on a link between precocious growth / puberty and breast cancer in African  Descent  women?

Her mom just wants to do what is right for her - but is hormone therapy the answer?
