Hi sorry to hear about mom. I am currently on tykerb and herceptin together for her2+ breast ca with mets to skin of my reconstruction. The biggest side effect is diarehha terrible but after about a week my body got used to it and stabilized. I have been on this coctail since march and doing well with side effects not soo bad some skin problems to hands and face lots of dry skin and cracking but this is common with tykerb. It's not doin much for my skin mets but i hear they are very hard to treat. i was also on xeloda and herceptin in 06 also hands dry and cracking but thats about it. Get some immmodium and a big tub of udderly smooth hand creme and depending on your moms age she should be ok. Good luck hang in there and keep us posted love and hugs to all

I was on tykerb/xeloda for several months, but sadly it didn't work for me, so we stopped after 5 cycles, last month. The worst of the s/effects, for me was the rash-I was covered head to foot in spots! Feet and hands were also pretty bad, but a dosage reuction helped enormously with this. I hope it works well for your Mum-good luck.

Hi elaine,  how does one gauge the efficacy of this combo?does one feel the nodes dissapearing?right now she is feeling a lot of fatigue.....tykerb is supposed to target her2+ cells......does one have a cancer with her2+ and her2- markers together?
