RCW - Loco-regional post-mastectomy recurrence of breast cancer
Hi. This is my first post ever, and if I do anything wrong or offensive, I apologize in advance. I am a man, I have never been diagnosed with cancer, but I am a supporter, caregiver, Relay For Life participator, etc. who has lost several loved ones to cancer.
The next paragraph has some somewhat graphic commentary about breast cancer. Please don't read any further if that may hurt you.
This post is meant specifically to anyone out there who has "RCW" breast cancer, sometimes called "loc-regional recurrent breast cancer" or "chest wall." It is return of cancer after mastectomy (full or partial) that is in the chest wall itself and/or the skin covering the chest wall. It has no current standard of care, and is a particularly hard cancer to treat, and to endure, since patients can actually see the cancer spreading across the chest wall. Oncologists describe their efforts to treat this cancer as "chasing it."
I am trying my best to get the word out about a new treatment that is having true and real results with women with this horrible cancer. I am working on a video or pamphlet to reach out to women who have RCW, and I would like to interview anyone who is both willing and brave enough to share their story. There is no pay, etc. but it will bring real hope to women who most likely think there is none. If you know any survivors with RCW or who had RCW, or if you yourself do, would you please consider helping in this way? I want to assure you, I am no professional or anything like that. I am a public school counselor and father of 3, and I am just trying to do what I can in my little corner of the world. If you would be interested at all, please post here or email me at odaat12@hotmail.com Please do not feel obligated to include your name, location, or anything like that. If you would prefer to call, my home number is 815-538-6525.
If you would like information about the treatment I am talking about, I am going to put that in the next post. I'm concerned that this post is starting to sound like I am promoting something, and I am not...but I am steadfast in my desire to find a cure for this horrible disease, and to bring real hope to patients and their loved ones.
Thanks for reading this, and please, if you know anyone with, or who had, RCW, please consider helping on this project. Just like anything, people listen to others who are or who have been in the same shoes.
