clinical trial with herceptin

I am supposed to decide if I want to be in a clinical study where they do 2 doses of Herceptin with early stage cancer to see if it is beneficial in prevention of further cancer?  Any one have thoughts about this.  Since my cancer is stage 1 they will first test the sample and then decide if I am candidate.  Do I want to experience any of those side effects.

I would do it.  I have been on Herceptin since December 2007 and the side effects have been minimal to non existant.

    wwgoddess,

I'm curious to know if you were accepted in to the clinical trial?  I agreed to have a tissue sample tested for HER2neu, and it came back positive.  I have agreed to participate in the clinical trial, but am uncertain as to what I am in for.........what are they looking for regarding medical history?

Linda,  I ended up testing neg for the HER so I did not have to make the decision for the clinical trial.  The trial would have included two doses of Hercepton at the beginning and then mid to end of radiation.   Hope it goes well for you , I think they follow you for about 10 years to see if it makes a difference in early stage of DSIC.   Did you have radiation or are you on meds.

I have an appointment next week with radiation oncology to discuss rad therapy.  I'm hoping to get in to the clinal trial group that receives the herceptin.  My only concern is that everyone is very vague about potential out-of-pocket costs.
