Are you kidding me? All Stage IV and no one has looked into alternative treatments?

You may want to post this on the Alternative thread - in the upper part of the boards.
Good luck!

I saw this at one of the threads here. It's a new clip about a hospital in Mexico that offers alternative treatment:

Hi - I'm new to this site. I went to Mexico 23 years ago for alt treatment quite sucessfully - was diagnosed a year ago with stage 4 (throughout skeletal structure and lungs). I went to a different clinic in Mexico (Oasis of Hope) this past December and in March - I had excellent results. The tumors on my sternum completely disappeared and I feel so much better. The ones in my spine shrunk and I can now walk without pain. I will tell you more if you're interested.

Here's a link from a post under alternative treaments:
It was begun by Josef Issels who pioneered comprehensive immunotherapy for incurable cancer patients in Germany. He was jailed at some point then later released, continued to practice medicine and eventually became an expert member of The German Federal Government Commission in the Fight Against Cancer.
You can read more about him here: http://www.issels.com/Default.aspx
Also I know someone who goes to Tijuana Mexico for arthritis treatments where they also treat a lot of cancer patients. I'm probably going to go there just to see what his take is on it.
I have his name and number if you're interested I will look for it.

The Issels Clinic is housed in the Oasis of Hope Hospital in Tijuana. I started off at Issels and switched to Oasis. They're both very good. Issels offers a 4 week program at about 40 K. It's very comprehensive with alot of nursing support. They do laetrile, vit C, a modified version of ozone, nutrition, coffee enemas, and 3 vaccinces. They're on the 5th floor of Oasis and share the dining and the rest of the Oasis hospital. Oasis does laetrile, vit c, ozone (autologous transfusion), oxygen therapy, vit K, stem cell, nutrients to build the immune system, organic foods, low dose chemo and radiation. The people are wonderful and it's truly a healing environment. Oasis starts at $27,500. Most people had fundraisers done for them. It's worked for me.

I'm stage 4 and I'm taking vit. c plus B-17 from mexico and it seems to be helping my last scan was getting better i will see how my next one is in july. go to www.worldwithoutcancer.org it is very help full.

Wow, 40K a month for vitamins, laxatives and a hotel room. Me, I'd rather go on a cruise or leave that money for my kids.
-
I would pay it. Hell I have paid half as much to get poisoned by my chemo and the likelihood is it damaging my heart, liver and GI tract. Not to mention it is only a short term fix and I'll probably have to do it all over again. Teild, always can count on you to rain on the alternative parade.

Sorry for raining on your parade. Unless you are very wealthy, I think that is an incredible amount of money to pay for treatments that have neven been proven to have any medical value whatsoever. If I was stage 4, that is money I would rely on to help keep me comfortable through the trying days ahead, or to leave to my children who would need it once I was gone. $10,000 a week? For coffee enemas? Holy cow. But if you have an extra 40 K or more to throw away, what the heck.

When I was first diagnosed with BC, my husband was adamant that I not do a mastectomy and chemo so I researched every Eastern medicine practitioner, every herbalist, ever alternative medicine guru and they all told me the same thing....alternative therapies are an adjunct only to treatments. Of course there is the occassional miracle for someone who believes totally in other therapies. But I couldn't take the chance on being wrong. There would be no way to undo what had been done. I did include some alternative therapies, before and after my mastectomy and chemo but I did not do anything my husband suggested. We aren't married anymore and my cancer is back but I had to find practioners that I trusted and go with that. If you don't trust your physicians then hunt till you find ones you trust.

Hello. my boyfriend was just diagnosed with her2+ breast cancer (after being a her2- for 3 years). I wanted to ask those of you with more experience- how does physical activity, nutrition and other alternative perspectives influence the disease? or is it just a mental thing.... I feel like I'm desperate for hope and willing to cling to just about anything.... yet as a scientist....
I will appreciate any advice. thanks...

gilatl--I do believe proper nutrition helps the body heal. I believe in more complimentery options than alternative. When I was diagnosed a year ago stage IV; I quit all sodas & diet drinks & diet foods. I started juicing veggies & fruits for the enzymes & antioxidants. I also bought an alkaline water filter. I wanted to make sure I was putting good things into my body to heal. Someone gave me the dvd of "Food,Inc" which shows where our food really comes from such as beef, chicken & grains, cereal. I try my best to stay away from hormone induced beef, chicken & milk products. I buy some organic milk products. I buy more from Whole Foods & Trader Joes.
Nothing wrong with trying to get healthy while enduring chemo and cancer treatments. Good Luck to your boyfriend.
