Skin Mets
Hi I am new to the site and soo happy to have found all of you amazing women.I am currently taking Tykerb 4/day Herceptin every 3 weeks Zometa every 6 weeks.I am clean everywhere but the skin of my reconstruction and skin below tummy area.It is very hard to treat, been on soo many drugs since 12/05.I do very well with side effects. Right now after being on this regimine since march,I have an acne type rash. Totally random not clusters. One here one there tiny little red dot with a head. they seem to go away as quickly as they come mostly face and trunck of body anyone??? Also constant tearing of eyes terribly red. I have read about dripping nose but not eyes. I also have the cracked hands everyone has been describing. All and all handling the drugs pretty well.My skin does not look much better either. I haven't found too many women with just the skin mets.Just looking for information like everyone else! Good luck hope love and prayers to all of you! Karen

Sorry, I'm confused--have you been diagnosed with skin mets for which you are being treated? Or are you wondering if this rash is skin mets? If the latter, is it possible you have shingles? Is it itchy? Sorry I can't be of more help. I hope you feel better soon.

Sorry if i was confusing. I am being treated for skin mets after initial dx in 05. I am currently on Tykerb Herceptin and Zometa. It is not itchy. It comes and goes thats why i think it is a side effect from either the Tykerb Herceptin or both!

Karens I had skin mets after supraclavicular lymph nodes surgery on the surgery borders. I was misdiagnosed and had the surgery falsly. However the skin mets were like little tumours under skin (little red in view) that went away after 3 rounds of Taxotere, Gemzar and Herceptin. Are the skin mets I had different than yours? They didn't come and go..Wish you good luck!

My skin mets are like yours also little red bumps under skin. I did six cycles of TCH upon DX in 05. My recurrence was to the skin of my reconstruction in 07 after finishing all treatment includiing radiation. Very hard to clear up skin mets! I did great on navelbine for about a year but then it stopped working. Been trying to find the right drug cocktail ever since. The rash I am questioning now is different thats why i think it is a side effect from one of the drugs i am on now. Sort of acne like on face and trunk but they come and go thats why i know it's not more cancer because ca doesn't go away! good luck to all Karen

Karen, what has your onc. said about the acne-rash? It must be so annoying on top of dealing with the skin mets. I'm sorry you're having trouble finding the right cocktail. I hope your onc. can figure out a tx that will work for you. Best, Carolina

Hi Carolina I have not called the onc about the acne it has only been about a week and I see him on the 4th of june it is not painful or anything just ugly and like i said it seems to go away as quickly as it comes who knows sooo many side effects ugh i will let you know what he says thanks for your concern. I love this site so happy i found it. Karen

Karen,
I have the exact rash you are describing! I'm almost done with my year of Herceptin and about 3 weeks ago have started to get this on my stomache and upper thighs! the bumps go away and apear every couple of days. I see my onc today and will ask him about it.

I'm also taking Tamox. don't know if this could be a side-effect of that?
-
Kren and Donalee ask your docs. They could or should have an answer...I agree that it seems like side effect of chemo coctails. They have a great affect on immune system that could be a reson for acne too. Keep going.

I have read about a rash that can be a se from the tykerb. There is some good info at her2support.org. They have a thread specifically for tykerb use. I hope that you get some relief soon.

Hi everyone,
Just got back from my second to last Hercept! yayayay! I asked my onc about the rash and he said it is definitely a side effect of the Herceptin and not to worry about it because it doesn't really bother me. At least now I know what's causing this.
Hope this helps.
