Tenderness, stinging with LCIS???

Hello -

I am still in the process of being diagnosed and have multiple issues. On one side I have thickening all the way around the nipple. It started only above the nipple and has now extended all the way around and partially under the nipple. This whole area is tender all the time and occasionally I have sharp stabbing or stinging pain. The only thing they have been able to see on the tests is a possible "scar" that is not in a place that I had surgery before. The mammo looks like the tissue is more dense in the thickened areas and seems to be pulling away from the chest wall and overall shrinkage of that breast. This part is apparently very hard because they had a hard time with a needle localization. Since they don't seem to have any idea what is going on, of course I am trying to guess. Based from what I have read about LCIS and ILC, I was thinking this could be a possibility.  So I was wondering - is it tender, stinging? I'm worried about the watch and wait approach because this stuff has grown and spread rapidly. I'm not sure what to do next. So far, they have said come back in 6 months.

Most LCIS is not only asymptomatic, but it also normally does not show up on mammograms, ultrasounds, MRIs, or by clinical exam.

Its usually an incidental finding when a biopsy is done for some other reason.

There are a few women here who have said they they had some thickening, or cloudiness on a mammogram, but I think that is unusual.  Often LCIS is found not AT, but adjacent to the lesion that triggered the biopsy.

    Thanks Leaf -

You seem to be quite knowledgeable on all this stuff. I'm actually even more worried now because the tenderness has increased and it's only one one breast. That's the side with the increased thickness/lumps - the other side seems to have actually improved but maybe it's only relative. I'm very confused.
