Has anyone had vision impariment after Taxotere?

Options

Hi ladies,

This is my first visit to the sight and I am so encouraged by all the support and wide range of topics.  I have just had my 2nd cycle of Taxotere and after three days I found my vision was disturbed - like a cloudiness and shodowy sight - I am just wondering if anyone else has experienced this side effect?

Yes, this can be a side effect but it's temporary. I asked my opthalmologist about it, and he said that if you need to get new glasses or have your eyes checked for any reason, to wait a couple weeks after chemo. My last taxotere treatment was about 6 weeks ago and my vision is better than what it was during treatment.

I had the same thing happen..When I asked the Onc about it she said it should go away but she also said that I should make an appt to see the Optamologist once I was finished with tx.  I am a week out of my last treatment so I'm hoping it will get better soon.

Judith ~ I noticed after 4 rounds of TC (back in October) that my vision seemed a bit hazy or cloudy or just not as sharp as normal.  In fact, I was afraid to drive at night for a couple of months because I just didn't feel like I was seeing well enough to drive in the dark.  Thank God, the situation has totally resolved now that I'm 7 months post my last chemo tx.

Since you're already having the problem after your 2nd tx, I would definitely discuss it with your onc, and look for assurance that he's seen it before at this point in chemo and that it's always temporary.      Deanna

    Hi ladies,

Thanks so much for your replies.  I live in South Africa and my oncologist has never had a patient with this side effect before so it is really reassuring to see that there are others that have experienced it and that it seems temporary.  Deana, may I ask how many cycles of Taxotere you had in total because I am only having four which may mean I am on a higher dosage than you were on if you had more than four cycles?

judith ~  I had 4 cycles of Taxotere + Cytoxin, spaced 3 weeks apart.  That seems to be the most popular way it's given here in the US.  I've noticed that some younger women and/or some with multiple positive nodes may get 6 cycles for "added insurance," although I don't believe there's any hard evidence that more is better.     Deanna

judith; i had 6 rounds of TAC  (taxotere, adriamyacin, cytoxin) and my eyes were very blurry during chemo. i couldn't stay on the computer very long...but it all cleared up after i finished chemo.  they were also kinda irritated. not painful..just blurry and irritated.

good luck*** i really believe in chemo. i like to think of the little cancer cells "shaking in their boots" on infusion day. lol

Yes, it happened to me after first and second rounds.  Clears up after about a week (or at least it did last time).  I'm 3 days out from second round and it is very weird to have your vision change.  I feel like I'm in the twilight zone with the chemo brain and the vision disturbance.  Hang in there it should go away.
