A Mother's Journey, A Daughters Pride
I am the daughter of the strongest woman I know. She was diagnosed with breast cancer, just 3 months after I was born, in 1991. She battled hard and overcame the cancer. She had also recently lost her sister due to breast cancer.
Just a few short years ago, my mother decided to have a full Mastectomy and Histerectomy. She no longer has ovaries, a uterus, and has no breast tissue what so ever. She regulates her horomone levels through a horomone patch that is switched every week.
With the surgeries, she was thrown directly into menopause until her patched kicked into gear.
All the while, within a week after the surgeries, take note that both procedures were performed in the same sitting, she went back to work. She runs a home child care. Talk about a stressfull job. But no one could hold her back.
When she sets her mind to something, get out of the way. She will succeed. I am proud to say that I am the daughter to such a beautiful, smart, strong woman. Im proud to say that she fought for my father and I so that we could live the best life possible. Im proud to say that I carry the breast cancer gene, and I will beat it because I know I can. Not only is her Gene in my blood, so is her intensity.
Please tell of your mothers struggle and how it affected you.

My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 35.....I had not been born yet......I was still some years away.....As far as I know she had no surgery..I will have ot ask family about this....She was widowed at the age of 44 when i was 8 months old.....She had 11 other children before me......Three of us were born after her bc diagnosis......She was a fighter from the get go all 4 ft 11 inches of her.........She raised her children to be respectful and loving but also to fight for what we believe in.....My mother never let her cancer get her down...She took time with me to teach me to read and write before I even started school......I grew up in a coal mining town...My father was a coal miner and my mother tried her best to give us what she could on a miner's pension......We grew our own vegetables and my brother would hunt for our meat.....We lived in a very rural part of Kentucky.....We didn't have much but my mother made sure we had waht we needed...I am so proud of her......I really miss her...She passed in June of 1972...i was 8 yrs old........My mother's journey taught me to persevere and always try your best....

God bless you dear and God bless your mommy. She definitely is an inspiration.
She was diagnosed at a young age and that did not stopped her. I was diagnosed at 52, I am doing fine thank God.
There was no BC in my family and I have more than 20 aunts. My mother was my best friend and I lost her to Parkinson Disease 5 years ago. I miss her every day, but I thank God for having her near me so many years. She was also a very very strong woman, nothing was imposible for her and she was always full of joy. Now I see her in everyting I do and she makes me be a better person every day.
BC has given me more thrill, energy and joy that I ever had. Every day is a blessing for me.
Hugs and love
