Are you guys familiar with this webside http://www.dayofdecision.com/ for organized celebrations or protests about the decision from the CA supreme court to overturn Prop 8? I wasn't optimistic before although with the progressiveness of some of the states (Iowa, Maine, VT) since the mistake in california, I'm feeling more optimistic. I don't think the CA supremes want their state to be known as being behind the ball when it comes to granting civil rights.

We'll know by June 1st.

Fingers and toes crossed!  From what I've been reading the last few days, methinks the court will determine the unconstitutionality of Prop 8 -- a way of overturning it without the court showing its bias for or against.  A compromise to be sure....... but then, life usually is.Frown

The decision will be announced at 10 am California time....

Linda we would be thrilled with overturning Prop8, whether or not the court shows bias for or against. We wanted that determination BEFORE the election, but the CA supremes said we had to wait and if we lost, then we could appeal (which seems ridiculous to me).

Sonia Sotomayor sounds like the ideal supreme court candidate, speaking of the USA supreme court.! I haven't heard that much about her stance on LGBT issues, but she seems like a progressive woman and dare we say.........empathic LOL.(I don't understand how anyone can be anti-empathy, but that's a whole other topic not worth getting into).
