Almost 5 yrs out and still amazed by Dr.'s
I havent been posting much anymore, but I thought I'd stop in, say hello, and mention how blasted obnoxious some Dr.'s can be. Im am 4yrs and 8 months from diagnose(with 5 coming up fast . My original diagnosis was triple neg metaplastic breast cancer(and for those who dont know, this adds a further level of aggressiveness). Aside from the long term side effect from chemo that Im still dealing with, ie jawbone infection as far as the BC is concerned, knock on wood, Im doing great!
Dh on the other hand just got diagnosed with prostate cancer. His current urologist(note I said current), was treating him for kidney stones when we insisted on a biopsy because his PSA was up, and he was getting blood in his urine. Dr. was "convinced" that the stone was responsible. So fast forward to the Dr.'s office and the path report. We wait almost 3 hrs to get in(this is in Canada and after cooling our heels, he wasnt even going to mention the path report...only wanted to tell us about the stone. We finally ask him about the path, and he says, oh it showed a "small amount of cancer but we're just going to watch it" Now of course having been down this road I've already done my research and that is 1 of many option my dh could have, because it is early stage, but note, its DH's option not his Dr.'s. We want to talk about other options. There were also 2 small lesions on the kidney which in the CT report the radiologist suggests follow up MRI or ultrasound to clarify what they think is benign. Dh's mother had severe kidney disese many moons ago so we want to be cautious. What follows is the conversation :
Dr. -Ok we're going to schedule you for laser of the stone
DH- What about the kidney lesions, how do we find out about those
Dr-Well I could cut out your kidneys and put them on a table
Dh- well Id prefer something a tad less drastic, didnt the radiologist suggest MRI
Dr- oh they always want to do scan after scan , it isnt needed
me- well what about the cancer
Dr- as I said ,we'll keep an eye on it
me- well , I think we want to discuss other options, understand where Im coming from when I had BC, my then GP didnt want to order a mammo because" I was too young to have BC(and the age of 44 ), and he was "sure" it was a caffeine cyst. If I had listened to him I'd be dead now !
Response from Dr...and I hope you're sitting for this one : " Well then at least I wouldn't have to answer all these questions"!!!!!!!
Dh and I were rendered speechless. He spent a grand total of 6 minutes with us and that was the finale. Needless to say we have an app't elsewhere . We still have to use him for the stone procedure otherwise it will be a significant delay. I just hope I can control myself when I see him now that the shock has worn off. I just have to remind myself that it's in dh's best interest to bite my tongue I suppose.....dh wanted to tell him to---- --- but I talked him out of it so far. Hopefully we get through the stone surgery without any other comments.

Hi Babyface, I remember you so well from about 3-years ago. You were so kind when I was having some awful ct scans re my lungs (so far so good)...We shared a monumentally miserable reaction to chemo back then....Just want to say, I am so glad you are doing well...And of course, I wanted to tell you how sad I am that your husband is going through this now...My cousin's husband has gone down that road...prostate, bladder, kidney....More than 5-years later he is going strong and he had major cancer involvement in all those areas...Hopefully your husband will have much better news than that...Wishing good news for both of you.....P

Babyface - I give you alot of credit - I may have physically assaulted him and then been arrested. Can you report him to ???? Hoping your husband's next doctor is professional and smarter.

I hope this doctor's testicles rot off. My best wishes to both you and hubby. God bless.

Babyface, so good to see you!......So sorry you have such a dare I say Bast***** of a doc for your hubby!.....As Tami said Good for you standing up to him!......And my curse for him is May he grow nose hair out to his knees!!!!................Here's hoping for an excellent outcome with your hubby's prostate cancer......................

His response was so shocking it was almost funny. If you see him again for any reason you might just smile and tell him he has a very quirky sence of humor. Then tell him he missed his calling as a forensic pathologist. Their patients don't ask many questions either.

Hi Penny nice to speak to you once again...glad all is well with you. Im almost afraid to come on here and talk about my chemo reactions for fear of frightening any newbies...its one thing to say, yes but my onc said it was a 1 in 10, 000 but when you're just about to start...well I remember how I felt back then. What peaves me off to no end is that they still cant get permanently rid of the chronic osteomyelitis I developed in my upper jaw from chemo. Im told that the chances of developing this were even more outrageous than my chemo reaction. The next time I hear anyone in the medical profession say "my arent you unique" I may just spit...lol
CP..we would love to report him and once we picked our jaws off the floor we talked about it but here is the problem...the app't we now have is in Toronto at Princess Margaret(highly rated hospital) but we live in a smaller community with only a couple of urologists either of whom could be on call for emergencies at any given time...with the difficulties dh has been having with kidneys etc (he ended up in emerg 2x so far because of pain trying to pass the cannonball they refer to as a stone
), we report him and he's the --- ---- we end up with one night. In our younger days dh and I probably would have ...now as type A as we both are we're trying not to cut off our noses to spite our faces...lol
Suzy....love your response...would be a great comeback
Thanks all for the well wishes....the amazing thing about this website, and why I've always told friends about what a lifeline this is , no matter what, having not posted for awhile, the first place I come when I need support, is here, and one can always count on just that

I would love to put your husband's Ahole doctor and my Ahole former boyfriend of 13 years who is a doctor and left me during treatment for a young and healthy 30 y/o with perfect breasts (he said) in a very small room together with venemous spider and red ants and biting snakes and hellfire and brimstone...and, NO...I'm NOT angry - I am DAMN MAD!!!!!!!!!
