Getting Married :)
Hi all...I keep forgetting about the Lesbian threads in this place!
I just wanted to share that after being together with my sweet-half for 10 years we are getting married LEGALLY this Saturday! We did have a ceremony in 2001 but because it wasn't legal in the govt eyes then it didn't "count" ...well, it did for us but you know how it is.
We met online 10 years ago (she's from USA and I'm from Canada)...within 3 months she had sold EVERYTHING (house, boat, brand new truck, and all her belongings) and moved to Canada with me.
We have had an amazing 10 years...she's been with me through my cancer dx and STILL loves me lol (even Frankenboobie and the Lone Ranger).
I just thought I'd share...some of you know me...some of you don't...but it's always nice to know one can have a same-sex married legally!
Hugs
Peggy

I'm crying tears of joy for you. Thanks for coming here to share your joy with us. Hearing about one of us getting married and having that marriage legally recognized is such a joy. I saw a clip of the first couple to be married in Iowa last week, the women got up at 4:00 am to stand in line to be the first Iowans to tied the know, they were hooting and hollering and woooooohooooing and saying, "we're married. we're married." That's what equality is all about.
Are you going away for a honeymoon? Please post pics of the ceremony, I'm dying to see them,

And I love that overhead "kiss" photo of you and Helene in B&W on the green grass, amid the green trees! That would be an amazing photo even without the color effect!
Thanks! and congratulations, again!!!!!

congratulations on your marriage.
My partner and I got married june 2008 while it was legal in California. As of Nov 4th it's no longer legal but all the marriages between June and Nov are still legal at least in California.
We've been together for 29 wondeful years. We live in a redneck rural county so we rushed off to another county which is more liberal to get our license as soon as we could. I was so delighted to have been able to take this step as I honestly never thought it would really happen. In fact, we thought of going to Canada to have a ceremony even if it's not recognized in the US just to have a wedding.
wishing all of you a happy and healthy new year

I'm a little slow in reading all the threads! My partner and I were married in May 2009. The avetar is a picture of our newly pedied toes as we left the train station on our way to Toronto. The first leg of the trip was the train from Vancouver to Toronto, 4 wonderfully relaxing days in our own little cabin! We flew to Ireland from there.
We'll be celebrating our 1st anniversary with chemo behind me/us and our future ahead!

MANY Congratulations!!! I am the lesbian sister of a woman with stage III breast cancer. I came here looking for help for her and support for me as her main support source. She doesn't have computer access. I was so pleasantly suprised to find this forum and so very happy to see your post with wedding pictures yet!! I hope you and your woman have many years together of wonderful wedded bliss! Again, congratulations.
