Yes, this is true. My sister in law works for the PA branch.

    Please know this:

EVERY  STATE HAS A FORM OF THIS PROGRAM.

It's funded by the federal government. You need to contact them as soon as you think you found a lump, as you have to go thru their doctors for an evaluation. But they pay for everything. I am in the North Carolina Program right now.

I'm in a state Medicaid program for women with breast and ovarian cancer -- I assume this may be the same thing?  Anyway, it's a real blessing.  Since I moved back here to take care of my mom I haven't been able to find a full time job with benefits, although I did land a part-time job.  It doesn't pay well but I can pay bills, but not health insurance.  When I found the lump in my breast I thought no one would treat me without insurance (I've never been without before, so I didn't know better), but I finally decided I had to at least find out what I had.

If you don't have insurance, please forge forward anyway.  I found out about our state's (federal?) program through our local YWCA.  If you have 211 in your community, that's a good resource for finding out about options.
