Hi Moderators,
When the boards were going through the assault from all those trolls back in 2006 - 2007, I thought we needed something like this - a way to stop the multiple postings of the "cancercures" or the nasty photos. When we got this ability in 2008, I thought it was wonderful. I used it many times to report spam and obscene posts and it was great to see them disappear immediately.
Well, now because of the bad behavior of a few, it doesn't seem so wonderful anymore. People are being hurt. I think you have come up with the best way to prevent all the spam by limiting new posters to 5 for a short time. Could we get rid of the ability for the "Community" to remove posts? If you look at the thread about bullying on the boards, you will see a couple of prime examples of people removing posts just because they don't agree with the writer's opinion. It is sad that grown adults with major health issues cannot be trusted to "play nice", but that is the truth of the situation. I can't stand to see any of my sisters hurt by the nasty behavior of a few.
Could you please think about changing this to simply a reporting function and not a deletion function?
Thanks for your attention.

Anne,
I think th is is a great idea, but wonder how far it will go. It seems freedom of speech is not respected on the boards, as the cyberbulling thread is now history.

I agree with Anne. Why is it that a few "bullies" keep using the report this post button way too many times, and are allowed to continue the same behavior. I think the comments on the cyber bully thread that was removed should be voice enough to change how the button is used. I don't understand why some of the posts on the cyber bully thread were removed by community and others weren't. I think the person who started the thread was unfairly attacked by having her intro removed by community. It doesn't make sense that a few can control what and which posters post on this site.
Please fix this problem. Our sisters need to feel safe here and be able to hear from women who have already walked the journey of breast cancer treatment. Don't let a few silence and chase away others.
Thanks in advance for your help in resolving this situation.

I am all for outing the people who hit report this post - I have used it many times on posts that were clearly spam and I would have no problem leaving my name as a reporter of the spam posts. I agree with you Diane that the original post violated no rules and was deleted singularly because some one wanted to shut down the thread or "punish" the person who asked the original question. I am seeing more & more of the "oldbies" leaving because of this and it is really too bad - all that experience and help is lost to people who need it most.
