My best friend was recently diagnosed with BC.  What is the best way to help her cope with chemo and the battle she has ahead?

Don't minimize it, don't go over board either and treat her like she is dying.  It sounds hard,  but just be there, call her and chat about things other than cancer unless she brings it up.  THose are a couple things I appreciate.  Tami

    Hi there

When my mom was battling bc I was very involved from beginning to end as you can imagine. And my mom was very willing to share information. However, I have a friend who is battling Mantle Cell Lymphoma and she doesn't want to talk about it. So I just remind her that I'm here for her and when I know she is tired and falling behind I offer to help her out.

Just be there for her....Let her lead....If she wants to talk let her talk and really listen...Be a shoulder for her to cry on......Don't say everything will be ok...No one knows if it will be ok....Say something like,  I am here for you no matter what the future brings....Tell her you don't know if it will be ok but you will be there for her.......Do try to keep her spirits up by taking her out if she feels like it and bringing her special meals or just being there for her.....One of my pet peeves is when some one I know tells me to keep my head up when I am having a down day......Let your friend know it is ok to cry and have down days......We all have them and they are normal......If she doesn't want to talk about cancer then don't .......You are a true friend by coming here and asking how to help your friend....She is very lucky to have you.......Good luck to you both........
