Anyone use visualization to help fight their cancer?

Last night, I pictured my IDC lesion as a narcissistic rock star who got caught trashing a really nice hotel room. I asked him what he was doing, and he said, "Whatever I want."  I said, "Oh, yeah?" and gave him the eviction notice. He was pissed, but stomped out.  That image just sticks with me - I used it again when I went running this morning. It felt really empowering!

Or am I just weird?

You are not weird, and thank you for beginning this thread. My vision is of Gods promise to me when I was scared and flying  from Orlando, FL to my second opinion appointment in Raleigh, NC.

I was apprehensive about travelling and feared the worst - plane crashing, etc. I prayed like mad boarding the plane, during take off and while in the air for over an hour. As the captain stated we were beginning out descent, I saw from my window seat that our plane's shadow was miniaturized against the white clouds below.

The sun was shining off our plane and it surrounded the shadow. Wrapped around the plane was a rainbow!

When I saw that I knew that was God promising me victory and that he would not fail me. Now when I am freaking out or terrified or just down and out, I visualize the plane and how incredible it looked in the clouds with the sunshine and rainbow surrounding it.

Both good visuals!!  I had a Reiki session a few nights ago and real felt good afterward.  I imagined a river flowing through my body and carrying away any toxins that may be lingering behind.

not weird. i used visualization also to get rid of cancer.,  my visualization was the cancer cells were "shaking in their boots"  every chemo infusion and rads.  they were "scared"  and had to self-destruct because they were so scared and knew they had no chance in my body, (so, i am 7 years NED)

i think visualization totally works.  in fact, when i was exercising...(i road bike)..i was always telling the cancer cells that they had no chance....i had WAY more healthy cells in my body then cancer cells.

i still am cycling..i am sending a message to cancer cells to "clear out" of my body.  the brain is very powerful.......remember that**

    hang in

I love this thread!!  I'm new so pardon me for just jumping in, but this is so in line with what I'm doing... Wonderful, great responses and ideas!

Shortly after I was diagnosed (which was just under 3 weeks ago), a friend was talking to me about an image she flashed on when she thought of me and my cancer.  We share a strong botanical background; when we first met, I was more educated about various botanical and horticultural things than she was, so she was always asking me questions.  The place we were working at the time had a small prairie grass area that was being burned that spring and she was asking me about why it had to be burned.  I explained the natural cycles on native prairie grass areas, how they would periodically go into natural burns from lightening strikes, etc., and that it would rejuvenate the prairie and it would bloom even more beautifully than before.

Her image -- her gift to me, just one of many -- was of the chemo being the fire that's burning through me, so I'll rebloom even more beautifully than before.  She also pointed out that fire tempers and strengthens, and she saw me as being stronger than ever.

I love that image.  I love my friend for giving it to me.

I know I'll be using lots of imagery as I go through this.

    Thanks for starting this thread!

Now when I try to recall my vision, I see me with the white light shinging through me and the rainbow wrapped around me.

I use visualization for all aspects of my life!  As far as the cancer...I've always said I made it regret invading my body...I visualize "it" surrendering, giving up and getting out as quickly as possible!

Hi Laura - Visualization is a great cancer coping technique. I know it certainly helped me at times. I started a blog as a resource for cancer patients, Cinco Vidas, and did a recent post on visualization and its benefits (http://blog.cincovidas.com/category/think-yourself-well). Love, strength and survival, Britta

I've learned so many things here.  Now I've learned that I'm not a weirdo after all.  I to have used visualizing in my life and with cancer.  I saw myself as Lucille Ball in the grape stomping episode of I love Lucy, only I was miniature and inside my body stomping out the cancer cells.  This is one of my favourite images.

    Cheers,
    Sherry

Sherry, this might be the funniest cancer-battle image I've ever heard of!  I love it!  I might have to borrow this one.  :)  Laura

Sherry, I'm an old I Love Lucy fan and I love your imagery!!  Thanks for sharing.  I may also have to steal this one, although it may reduce me to giggles... :)

Got another great visualization for everyone. There is an Japanese animated film, Ponyo, is being  released in English by Disney here in the US pretty soon. The story is a cute twist on the little mermaid.

There is a really cool visual in the movie that I think is great. The little goldfish (with a human face) who wants to become human is trapped in a bubble. Her tiny goldfish sisters all gather around her bubble and bite it until it disintergrates.

I am now using this image as my visual of my tumors being eaten down until they are totally gone.
