Still Dazed and Confused

I'm new to the chat site - my mom went for her 2nd to last chemo treatment last week.  Doc found a new lump on my moms other breast but wont know what it is until the next PetScan (or whatever you call it).  Doc also said she wasn't happy with the lack of progress of the chemo in her original breast.  Does this mean that the Cancer has spread?  If so, I thought the Chemo would have dealt with any potential new growths and if it could have spread, why wait so long to do a petscan?  I thought things were supposed to get better............please understand that we (I) am still trying to educate myself about this disease.

There are so many variables in what is happening with your Mom. What is her type/grade/stage of cancer, etc. You can drive yourself up the wall trying to educate yourself. When you read an article, do check that date it was published. There has been some really strong changes in treatment in the last 5 years and if you don't realize that, the articles can be scary. Knowing her status ER/PR and HER2 will help as well.

Good luck on your journey with your mom. She is lucky to have to by her side.
