There are quite of few of us that have done this combo.  I just completed my last one after six months.  I did Ixempra low dose 3wks on 1 off.  Xeloda every other week.  I had very good response for three months and but than it stop working.  This is a normal life spanned for chemo and TN ladies.  I did take this for inflammatory bc so it is a little different.  I also did have nodes inside my chestwall completely disappear.  It is a good drug for TN. (some of are just sooo agrressive)  My oncologist feels it will be the first line of treatment for TN in a few years.

I was really tired the first few months after that I found it a gentle chemo.  No blood shots and I was rare that I did not loose my hair.

Flalady, did you find that the Xeloda and Ixempra were not as aggressive then?  did you have many side effects?  I was wondering if the Xeloda and Ixempra might be able to cross the blood brain barrier and be used for brain mets.

I'm not sure about the blood brain barrier so little chemo actually does this....I'm so sorry to say.  I tell you my big concern I've have now learned from my experience and other's is once this drug stops working your cancer comes back more aggressively than ever.  It also changed my tumors to very large multiple solid tumors.  Scary stuff.  I'm going to post and ask others about this.

I found adding Xeloda did seem to make Ixempra work better.  My side effects were fatigue at first and than I finely got past this after about a six weeks I felt much better.  I had to cut back on the Xeloda because of hands/feet just could not handle full doses. They do know low dose of both of this drugs do work as effectively as the larger doses.  My blood did very well and my taste buds did good too. I was one of the few who never lost my hair.  What is weird is I have more fatigue after stopping this drug.I very suprised about using it for brain mets.  Have you talk to anyone else doing it for these kinds of mets??

I wish you the best with this or whatever your next treatment options maybe.  Let me know if you have any more questions.
