Bold - there are pros and cons everywhere LOL!  I LOVE living near the beach.....but it is tight quarters. My house is large but we have virtually no yard....very tiny front and back yards....we're packed in like sardines LOL!  what I would do for an acre (or even a 1/2) to garden, plant, grow my own veggies, etc.

I put in an application for a plot in our community garden over a year ago....I'm next on the list when a spot opens up.

Happy house hunting!!!!  It's going to be amazing out today!  Yesterday was just perfect!

Thanks for the response.  After reading through the messages I have pages of questions to ask the Dr's that I would not have know to ask If I had not read them here on the board.  Thanks everyone for your post.  Sure helps the newbys....

Hi everyone and welcome to all the new folks!  I'm just back from Orlando today where I went to a pharmacy meeting. It was the first time where I'd worn a wig so much and for so many hours at a time. (scratch, scratch...)  After all the work was done we played Tourist and went out to Kennedy Space Center and Cocoa Beach yesterday - and put our feet in the Altlantic.  I wanted to jump in but am bald and so lopsided still.

Tomorrow will be five weeks out from chemo (I don't have enough hair to go wigless yet; I sort of look like ET).  Is it normal for it to grow in so thinly at first??  A lot of my staminia is back now, will likely go back to work since Rads not until 5/6 simulation and 5/11, start of six weeks...

I'm LOVING this SoCal weather!  It was 87 at the BEACH yesterday!  never gets that warm.  With the breeze, its ok though.

I'm having Neulasta pain today but going to get in a beach walk for sure.  Yesterday, there were tons of spinner dolphins within view of the coast!

    PLEASE....no earthquakes....my nerves can't take it!

It will be cooling down towards the end of the week...expecting some rain here in Northern CA..

Enjoy the walk on the beach.  I will be in the pool keeping cool...Cool

Hot hot here in Berkeley too!  In FL, where I saw alligators in the water along the roads, including one VERY BIG one, I found myself thinking about the risks of hurricanes and alligators walking into the backyard and feeling more comfortable with our CA risks of earthquakes.  But, I'll second Lisa's "no earthquakes" please!

Sending thoughts of cooling aloe vera to all of you who've started Rads.   Cool  Cath

    Please no SHAKE AND BAKE.

I am having allot a problems with the dreaded diarrhea. I have taken more imodium than recommended and can not get this under control. I was up last night every 20 mins. It is the dangerous kind that you might get caught short. (if you know what I mean) I hate it sooo much. I'm just stuck here tired. I think I might call my onc and see if I can get something stronger. I want this behind me (no pun intended)

Damn its hot! I need to do more watering all the young plants are getting fried. I am glad you had such a great trip to FLA Princess. You deserve some fun.

Lisa: Your not kidding they are tiny yards. The houses that we looked at are small too. I would not have room for my wardrobe. We need to keep looking. Maybe something up the hill with a view of the ocean. But still walking distance to the beach. I am dreaming huh? In our price range?

Bold - I had HORRIBLE diarhea after cycle 5.  I used imodium and also reached the reco'd amount.  i could not keep food down.  I diagnosed myself with c-diff and my onc couldn't believe it.  I pushed for stool samples and I was spot on!  So, I'm taking flagyl now.

Have you been on antibiotics lately?  I was and that's where I got my c-diff.  From a few rounds of Cipro and then Keflex.  So.....take care, be safe and go in for a stool sample if need be.  Also....I went in for IV fluids a few times.  Better safe than sorry!

re: the houses by the beach.....prices ARE coming down.  we bought in 97 so we're still ahead of the game.  but, it is expensive!

Brrrr Kt!  LOL - - t-shirt weather, your Spring!   I transfered planes in Denver yesterday and the Flight Attendant got on the speaker saying, "for all of you who got on the plane in flip flops back in Orlando (included me), take a look out the window..." (blanketed with snow)

It got up to the 90 degrees here in Berkeley today and is still hot.

it was 92 here today at the beach.....i'm sure it was triple digits inland. it's almost 9pm and still HOT!

my son's 3rd grade class is going on a field trip in the Malibu mountains on thursday.  i'm one of 5 chaperones and really want to go.  but, it involves a 1 mile hike.  i'll be 10 days out of my last chemo and pushing it as it is.  if its hot there is no way i can hike a mile.  on the flat beach, yes, in the hot mountains, i'd pass out!

pray for cooling!  or send snow!!!!

Its raining and cold in Philly...I think my dog even has seasonal effective disorder.  We could use  a little of your sunshine....I did see a few tulips and daffodils, so I know spring is trying hard to make an entrance!

Hope you can make the hike...sounds beautiful.  I  am ready and apprehensive for my simulation tomorrow.  Just when I think I am ok, a little fear kicks in.....

I hope everyone is well today and finding something to be thankful for...

    Blessings, Laura

For those of you who've already done the simulation, do you recommend taking a friend?

    Morning Ladies...

Should be another HOT day here in Cali....but we are expecting Rain by the end of the week....crazy weather....

I am off to get my LABs done for my last chemo on Thursday...it will be great to start RADs in a couple of weeks.  I have heard that RADs are much more tollerable than Chemo...we shall see...

    Kathy,

I am feeling the same way, no real reason, just anxious.  I guess its fear of the unknown.  Its also hard when the reactions to radiation vary from woman to woman.  I keep thinking I will be fine, but i know that it may a rough 6 weeks.  I have my apppointment tomorrow  at 1015, I will let you know how it goes.  I also start the appointment with a pregnancy test!   Not enought support in the world if that test is positive....50 and pregnant..Sounds like a movie.

    Take Care and Blessings, Laura

    Welcome Cruise4life!

Congrats on your last upcoming chemo. It's great to have it over with!

I am currently going through expander inflation( I'm calling it my Dolly Parton Project) and expect to start rads about first week of May. Can't wait to get it over with.

Pricesskauai59: Glad to hear about the aloe. I'm seeing my med onc tomorrow for followup. There is a natural food store near him which should sell it. I'll look. Hope all had good holidays. Mine were great with my kids and grandkids. the Easter Bunny was good to all this year.

Best of luck to all of you.  Looks like I'll be joining the club.  I had a lumpectomy on April 10.  Met with the radiation oncologist yesterday and scheduled my simulation for May 12 with 5 1/2 weeks of rads to follow shortly thereafter.  I'm nervous about radiation too but hoping that it is easier than I expect/fear (the lumpectomy was).  It sounds like there is a huge range in how people feel during/after rads.  I live in Hawaii but will be doing radiation in Sacramento since at home the drive is 1 1/2 hours down a windy road to where I would get the radiation and since my husband will be traveling for business so much of the time (plus I want to be near my family for moral support since I'm nervous about the whole thing).  The good part for me is that I work from home so I can just work from my parents' house instead and just do less work if I am not feeling up to it.  Nice not having to get dressed up to drive into an office at times like these especially!

Aloha, AlohaGirl: My parents live in Hawaii for 30 years.. The Big Island. I spend a lot of time there. My best friend lives on Maui. I am glad that you are staying with your parent. You could use the love. I hope that it is peaceful and healing environment for you.

I must say that I am not looking forward to radiation at all. YIKEEES!   But I will guess I have to work on re framing it to something positive. The healing sun! Yeah thats it. Hope everyone is OK. I am still recouping from #6. Its going to take a minute. Thank goodness for the cooler weather. Lovin it!

    Hi Ladies...

    Well..... GUESS WHAT?????

    TA DAAAAA....I am DONE....D...O...N...E...    YEAHHHHHHH!!!!!!

We did PAR TAY...and the cupcakes were a hit.

I had my last chemo...and the benedryl kicked in and I was so sleepy..so I had to take a nap this afternoon.  On our way home we stopped at JIMBOY Tacos and I had a chicken taco salad...BIG mistake...to think that I could eat normal...I have a bout of diarreah now...YIKES...and woke up in a big pool of sweat...and now got the dry mouth...urggh start of THRASH....BUT...its the last time...for that!

Along with the cupcakes I also gave my onco nurses "thank you" and gift cards - Michele a Nordstroms GC and for Rebecca who is expecting in August - a BABYs R US gift card.  They made my 6 sessions seem painless and were there for me all the way.  I couldn't have asked for better care.  They called me every session to follow up and see how I was doing. We had great hugs....and they were so appreciative and made sure that I stop in and see them whenever I see my onco doc...I will see them again tomorrow when I go in for my Nuelasta shot.

My doc said that I will need to leave my port in until after I am done with Radiation and have the Petscan.  So it will be a few more weeks for that to come out.

Good news...my doc is referring me to a Cancer Center for my Rads here in Vacaville so I won't have to drive to Vallejo every day...that is a blessing...Its bad enough having to deal with a daily routine let alone a drive to another planet...LOL

Alohagirl...we will be neighbors....I work in Sacramento...when I work...LOL...I have been on short term disability since February...and my doc has me out until August sometime.   Maybe we can meet for lunch...PM me when you get settled.  If you like to shop...we have some awesome Factory Outlets here...

Bold...you are right...this last one is already starting to be a kicker...an A$$ kicker...I must go and rest now...

    Later ladies.......
