Looking for excercise video

I want to start becoming more active now that chemo is done and would like to start with an excersise video I can do at home.  Does anyone know about a good one?  I can't do push ups or things like that because of the mastectomy, so I was wondering if anyone had tried anything and enjoyed it.

Thanks guys!

Love to all

Robyn

    Hi Robyn -

Were you active before you were diagnosed and started chemo?  If no, you may just want to start walking - outside if you can because it is so great to breath fresh air.  I also do Yoga for Weightloss.  It is very gentle.  If you are looking for a harder work-out I really like Gillad - Bodies in Motion.  You can catch him on FitTV or buy/rent his DVDs.   He provides an all over workout and I really like they are done outside in Hawaii. He does include weights so you would just need to modify and just use your own resistence and ensure you are careful about the arm movements.

    Good luck!

Check out the many exercise DVDs available at http://www.collagevideo.com/ . Although they don't have any specifically for post-mastectomy women, they do offer a series called "Sit and Be Fit" which starts you out doing gentle, seated exercises. They start here: http://www.collagevideo.com/exercise-videos/health-challenges-exercise-videos-46&page=2

But explore the others too...you might find that salsa or ballroom dancing is more appealing!

First, I have been in crappy shape since the kids were born, and I am going to start walking as soon as the mud dries but I wanted a video too.

Thanks for the suggestions!  My main concern was not wanting a workout with pushups and stuff like that because I wouldn't want to break pace while I wasn't doing the thing I can't do.  I don't know how good the Zumba DVD's are but maybe I will try that.  Kiss

This is a local lady who has put this DVD together. It is great. I have seen first hand friends tone up and feel better. It doesn't require jumping, lifting or any of those things you can not do after surgery/chemo.

Here's another good one - specifically desiged for everyone with breast cancer, all cancers, lymphedema, M.S., Parkinsons, Fibromyalgia and all chronic diseases.   It's designed for all fitness levels and can be done sitting or standing.

The Lebed method, focus on healing through therapeutic exercise and movement.
