    Hi all...

Buddy - ditto for me on the Clariton...  My chemo team said it's benefits were discovered by accident and they recommend it for all the patients....

Question for all - I've developed an extremely annoying dry cough.  The cough will go away when I get a chemo treatment, but start again a few days to a week later.  My onc said it was possibly an alergy that came up due to the chemo affecting my immune system and to continue to take the Clariton.  But it's not helping.  I was wondering if anyone had the same type of cough?

On a brighter note - MY LAST CHEMO IS TOMORROW!!!  YAY!!!

And congrats to all who have finished...  and to MOB who is done with RADS (I'll start that in August some time)...

    Have a great day all!

OK, this is how I celebrated my final radiation treatment.  My son's summer collegiate team had a breast cancer awareness night.  I was asked to throw out the first pitch.  Keep in mind I never, ever played softball... always been a girly girl.  I underhanded the pink softball they gave me and was appropriately embarrassed.

Here's the clincher!  Turns out the local 10:00 news ran a story on the event.  The players were all decked out in pink and used pink bats.  They actually showed me throwing out the first pitch!  That was it... my fifteen minutes of fame.  AND, I looked stupid.

The mascot, BTW, is a copperhead snake!

MOB, for some reason I can't see your pic, it prob has something to do with security settings as I'm still at work. I can't wait to check it out when I get home. Congrats on being done with rads! I'll start in a few weeks- don't have a date yet.

today I am 3 weeks past my last chemo and now I REALLY feel done with that. So that alone has made it a great day. I also got a voicemail from supplemental insurance saying a check is on the way which made my day- things have been really tight lately, and I was still worried they were going to come back and make me jump through more hoops to prove it wasn't a pre-existing condition since it had only been 6 mos 8 days from when I bought the policy to dx- 9 days earlier and I would been SOL! So that was great news.

and DH is coming home tonight unexpectedly- wasn't supposed to be til tomorrow- but they are having some mechanical problems and need to come back for parts or something, so I'm really happy about that! he still has to get up at 530am to go back tomorrow, but that's okay. We are going to his family's cabin on the North Fork of the White River this weekend and going canoeing- I can't wait!

Beth... Good luck tomorrow.  If you go on to rads, it is a walk in the park compared to chemo.

Dawn... Bermuda?  You deserve it.  Go and have some fun, girlfriend.

sakura73... That's because in real non-cyber life, I am sassy!  lol...

Alyad... Have fun this weekend.  And the picture?  It is a picture of me sweating in TWO shirts (they placed a second one on me), in a wig, sweating because it is over 100 degrees even at 7:00 in the evening AND I'm having a stress-induced hot flash.  Oh, and I'm standing by a person in a snake suit.

OK, I can see the pic now. A snake with arms and legs- funny! I hear ya on the sweating, tho it is only in the 90's here in MO. I think I will call dibs on one of the innertubes this weekend and float down the river with most of my body in the 65 degree spring-fed water! DH is finally home! haven't seen him since sunday night!

Dawn:  My husband and I went there last year as well.  Seems like it is turning into a tradition!  One week away from kids to enjoy the sights.

Diane:  Have you tried directlinecruises.com   They still have some cabins available.  They offer $100 onboard credit and a bottle of wine in your room!  They have the best rates that I could find.  Let me know how you make out.  We go on about 3 cruises a year.  I go to Caribbean in spring with whole family, summer with hubby, and fall with just the girls!!!  Can you  guess which one I have the most fun on??  We have found that cruising is cheaper for our family.  By the time we rent a house or room, buy food, and keep the kids entertained all week, it costs more (and we are still in the states!)

Those of you finished with chemo...are you doing anything to help hair regrow?  I have the white fluff coming in, but would love to speed things up.  I have a few eyelashes on top, none on the bottom and very few eyebrows left.  Any suggestions?  I am taking Biotin.  How about Rogaine for women?

    Hugs to all,

    Chris

Hi everyone- just got a couple minutes of free time, and thought I better post a HELLO! It is crazy summer central over here at our house. My 6 yr old is destructive when she gets bored so its been a real challenge to keep her busy. Added to that, both my brother/SIL AND my SIL's sister have decided to sell their homes and move to southern California (where SIL and her sister grew up).

Their dad has a form of progressive dementia (not Alzheimer's apparently) and they want to live closer to their parents. SIL's sister (who is "Auntie" around here) has been our nanny since this whole bc ordeal started and a huge fixture in our family. I am glad that chemo is over and that my energy is back, so that I can now help her get her house ready for sale. Lots of late nights painting, packing and cleaning. Her first open house is this weekend. Brother and SIL's are just starting their painting, packing, cleaning game this week and their place goes on the market in two weeks.  Brother (the cute one) already has a net job lined up, so they will move to get the kids in school by the end of the summer, regardless of when the house sells. SIL's sister (single) will stay until her house sells. Either way, we are happy for all of them (coming to this descion etc...) but we will miss them terribly. It has been such a rough year, and now I feel like a vaccum is about to open up. Jeeze, but I know it could be worse.

LOVE reading all the discussions about summer vacations! Bermuda sounds soo cool, but can I ask, what's the attraction? Are there some good deals or has it always been a popular destination for east coast gals? just wodering becuase no one talks about it here in the PNW.

MOB - congrats on the tv fame! Cute pic and great story! Congrats on being done with rads!

Bethr - congrats on your last chemo!!!!! yeah!!!

Hi Buddy, CCBaby, Dayla, Diane, Sakura, Michelle, Love2sing, Chris, Dawn, Patti, Francine, Jdeking, Ricki,Nadine, Bunny, PinkDove and EVERYONE who makes this thread worth reading!!

just thought I would share some good news- post chemo scans are clear! yay! I had zero doubt they wouldn't be- I really found it odd that they were scanning me again since the scans before chemo were clear. It was nice to get word the day after the scans- things usually don't move that fast in my onc's office!

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

    H i All,

Gina, Nice to hear from you. We missed you. I do hope things work out with your brothers move. Bermuda has always been a cruise destination out of NY as it is off the coast of N or S Carolina.

MOB- Great to have a celebrity in our midst.Congrats on finshing your rads..

Dayla--Glad to hear your good news.

Dawn..Enjoy your cruise. I am jealous. But we are thinking of taking a five day out of NY in the beginning of September

It has been a little over a week since my Lat flap surgery. Unfortunately our router broke this Wednesday and at the same time I developed a fever. I feel like shit. I had 103 last night. The PS says all looks well and told me to take tylenol. I was on antibiotics for the surgery . So I guess it may be a virus. Definitley the worse I have felt in this journey ..

Nice to see many more on the board. WE miss you all and definitely care hoe you are doing..

    Hugs,

    Francine

    Alyad... YIPPPPPEEEE for you!

Francine... Not so good news for you.  103 degrees is a very high temperature.  Only tylenol?

Gina... Getting a house ready for sale is bunch of work!  Don't work too hard... remember it takes a while for the chemo to completely leave our bodies.

Diane... Definitely go for the cruise.  You deserve to NOT cook, clean, etc.!

Chris... I think the general consensus is to use the Nioxin products... particularly the follicle booster at the first.  I'm using their shampoo, conditioner, and follicle booster.

buddy, patti, christy, dawn, sakura, beth, AND others... great to see you everyone!  Remember... rads are much easier than chemo!!!  Agreed, Patti?

    Hi everyone!

I've been busy and haven't checked in for awhile.....I hosted a "PINK" party at my house last night to celebrate being done with treatment (except for my "touch up" surgery to lift the "real" saggy boob and touch up the fake one)....and it was a "thank you" to my friends and neighbors who made me meals.   We had a really fun time!  Let me see if I can put a picture in.....

That's me with my two daughters!

We had pink food, pink wine -- then we had to have all the things I couldn't eat when I was doing chemo due to taste changing......chicken wings, chips and salsa and margaritas!  :-)

     Me with the Martaritas!!!!

I think the Tamoxofin is making my joints/bones ache....I'm hoping it calms down a bit over time!

Does anyone else out there enjoy a glass of wine or cocktail and how much are you worried that it could contribute to BC?

    Hugs

    Karen D.

Karen... What an absolutely wonderful idea!!!  I think I'm going to "borrow" your idea if you don't mind.

Thanks for bringing up the wine/cocktail question.  I've been meaning to do the same.  I am an occasional wine drinker and a sometime margarita drinker now.  Probably didn't have more than a handful of drinks during a fifteen year period when my boys were growing up.  While I think it is obviously wise to drink in moderation, ya just can't tell me that we can be pumped full of poison, given tons of RXs, and then put on Femara or Tamoxifen for years and be told the alcohol is the problem.  Would love to hear others' thoughts...

    ~Jan~
