Michelle,
God bless you and your beloved mother. I pray that my children and I have such a loving and close relationship for our time here, as the one you shared with your mom. What a blessing, indeed.
Love and peace,
Nadine

So true, Chris!
But I have to say, this year in particular feels like there is so much more to celebrate
Blessings,

Nadine your picture is beautiful. I love the short hair on you. I remember that look on me, now I have a headfull of curls. So weird how it just seems to happen overnight after seeming to take so long to grow.
Happy Holiday season!! It's just beginning!
-
Nadine: I agree ...your your pic is beautiful.
Christy: Love your pic too.
I got my hair colored and a few highlights last week. I hate it and I think I am going to go back to salt n pepper....natural. We'll see!
Holiday Season: Well it is quickly approaching and I am sure we are looking forward to having this year over. Personally I am looking forward to New Year's Eve...ring out the old and welcome in the New Year with a fresh bright outlook. We really all have so much to be grateful for even though some have had some other sadness besides cancer...we are still here and doing realatively well and for that I am truly grateful.
I am putting the tree up on Tuesday. I like to get it up before my DD's birthday which is Dec 5th.
Francine: DD is loving NYC. They have been shopping, did the sex and the city tour, went to the NY Jets game today and out to Naboo?? for dinner. They'll go to a Knicks game, Ground Zero, Tree light up and goodness knows what else. She texted me today and said for me to sell their house...ship the dogs...they love NY...lol
NYdeb: How are you doing? Think of you often.
What is everyone else up to?
Wishing you all well
Hugs

Hi Pickle,
Glad your daughter is having such a great time. She has picked some great things to do. The weather today was just great..I also heard that the Jets won. The restaurant is called Nobu. You were close.
WE were in the city today seeing the broadway play Memphis.
Let's really think about trying to meet in the spring in NYC.
Hugs,
Francine
-
Hi Francine: I was wrong...it's Babbo...italian restautant. Is nobu the sushi place??? because I know they want to go there too. Hope they don't blow their wedding budget...lol
NYC in the springtime....I would love it and I'm serious...very serious about it. We are going to Vegas in late April. Wedding in June....other than that ...I am free as a bird! I wouldn't be surprised if my hubby wants to go!
-
Pickle, I just checked on my calendar when both Passover and Easter are.I believe by the middle of the first week of April they are both over. I am sure others would want to bring their DH 's too. We would have to think about how to give everyone a good time.
Do you have any ideas about how we start planning. I do believe that a number of women would be interested in meeting all of us warriors. Just a thought I guess we should plan it around a weekend so those of us who work could come to. How about the second weekend of April . Just a thought.
You can PM me if you have any ideas to share.
I do like the idea of the new year and starting anew. Unfortunately my adult stepchildren were not that caring of my husband and I this Thanksgiving. We spent it alone. We did go to a freinds the next day. I do believe that because I have been strong throught out this year and not really a complainer the step children feel that I don't need any extra attention or extra visits. This does really hurt me. So what if I had 7 surgeries. You would have thought that they would have said maybe after all she has been through maybe spending Thanksgiving with her would have been nice. At least they should have said we are going to our mothers maybe we can see you another day. I am sorry to have vented but I just get so upset with these silly family dealings. It is also harder because they are step children and my husband does not like conflicts. My son lives in Minn.
Hugs,
Francine

Michelle So sorry about your mother. She must have hung on long enough to see you through your last tx. It is wonderful that you had such a close relationship. I lost my mom 20 years ago and still recall many fond memories... still miss her.
Beth We certainly do have much to be thankful for despite the horrific year we have all endured. I start my chemo up again this week and should ( fingers crossed) have my last TX on new years eve. Great way to usher out this year.
-
Deb: I can't wait until YOU are finished!!! Squeeze that last TX in before 2010....kick out 2009! You have had such a long haul and have handled it so well.
Francine: I am not far away (3 hours), so just let us know what weekend works for you and I'll be there. Any events that are worth seeing in Spring...maybe schedule around that! Can't wait..need a weekend away...
Chris
-
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!
Pickle..I wish you would post a pic of your hair with the new color. That's too bad you don't like it. Give it a week or two for you to get used to the change (as we all here should know, lol)
Deb...Good luck with your chemo this week.
I was scheduled for my 13th Herceptin treatment today but the doc office called and said my onc is out sick today and I had to re-schedule for Thursday. He wants to see me before my treatment to go over my MUGA scan results and I need to schedule a PETSCAN. I have'nt had a petscan since 5 days before my mastectomy back in February so I am anxious to find out if I am NED. Also, I think most of you know that I have to have my tissue expander removed in the next month because my radiation caused my scar line to open up and now it is draining a yellow fluid. My PS here said it is not infected but it needs to come out soon. And I cannot have implant for 2 years, so i have opted to have a flap surgery. I want to get an S-GAP flap surgery and my PS doesn't do those, so I have been talking to the Breast Restorative center in NOLA and trying to get an appointment there at the end of December. I found out about that place here on this website and have heard great things about it. They specialize only in mastectomy and/or breast reconstruction and have top doctors. It is about a 12 hour drive from my home, but I think it will be worth it.
-
NYC in the spring sounds FANTASTIC to me! Just have to double check the calendar!
NYDeb - We are all thinking of you and hope things go well with chemo.
(((HUGS))))
-
Michelle I was so sorry to read about your mother's death. I hope your memories of her are a comfort and a joy.
Ccbaby how frustrating about treatment being cancelled.
NYDeb - hope chemo train is back on tracking and taking you on as gentle a journey as possible.
All I send you much love.
-
NYDeb..Glad to hear from you and nice to know that you are resuming your chemo.
Chris- sorry to hear about your reconstruction problems. I too have read that many travel to NOLA.
Kim..Glad you like the idea of NY in the spring.
Ladies..I have very few eyelashes. Anyone else notice that after all this time they still have effects from the chemo. I stopped in May. I did read that sometimes they fall out again many months down the road. BTW my eyebrows which never really fell out , just thinned have never regained their pre chemo look. I guess if this is the worst chemo SE I am lucky.
Hugs,
Francine
-
Michelle, I am so sorry about your mother.
ccbaby- was this supposed to be your first apt with Hoos or have you already seen him? Nice new pic BTW! are you going wigless now?
Sakura, I was really happy to hear that you are back together with Damian-maybe he isn't such an idiot after all if he wised up and realized what he might have lost.
Its been a while since I posted- I've been reading all along. Nothing much new here- my hair has gotten annoying in the last week- it just wants to stick up. I have experimented with various hair products- folks keep telling my hair is cute, but it really seems like I now have a crazy amount of body in my hair which has never been the case before! Its also darker brown than before. The hair itself doesn't seem thicker, but maybe I have more hairs- or they are all the same age?
Pickle, I think you look beautiful with the silver hair- so whatever you decide to do color wise you will look great.
so NYC in the spring huh? I am just over 3 months away from heading out on the adventure of a lifetime, in mid march, my DH and I are starting the Appalachian Trail in Northern Georgia- spending 6 months hiking to Maine. Unfortunately, we won't get to NY til sometime in July or so, but if someone was driving up from the south and I could catch a ride, It'd be great to take a few days off hiking to meet everyone.
-
Dayla,
What terrific news that you and DH will hike the Appalachian Trail. I know you have been through so much. We all remember how much you missed the outdoors when you were undergoing chemo.
Your hair looks cute in the photo.
Hugs,
Francine
-
Hey Dayla,
I see the trail passes about 30 minutes from where I live in a NYC suburb. Maybe other BC sisters along the way would like to come and say hello to you. I would ...
Hugs,
Francine
-
Dayla...Yes, today was suppose to be the first time to see Dr. Hoos. They wanted me to reschedule to Thursday and I asked if I could go ahead and get my herceptin treatment today and then see him on Thursday, but they said no, that I needed to see him and couldn't get my treatment until after. I don't understand it because I have seen the NP the last 3 times before my treatment. The only thing that may contribute to me needing to see him first before treatment would be if my MUGA scan results didn't come out good, but then I wouldn't be able to even receive treatment. Who knows. I will find out on Thursday.
-
Oh and yes, I have actually been wearing a hat instead of my wig now! One of these days when my bangs get longer, I will ditch the hat!
-
Deb: New Year's will be your last one....yeah and what a great way to kiss 2009 goodbye. Just think ....you should be on steroids anti nausea drugs that day so you'll probably be awake at midnight and will be able to raise your glass and ring in the New Year! I will be toasting all of us warriors for sure!
Christy: Sorry you are having such troubles. Hope you get good news and the green light on Thursday to get your treatment. Sending hugs and positive vibes for a good report. Isn't it nice to go wigless!
Kim: NYC....so glad to hear you are interested. I would love to meet a fellow Maritimer!
Rachel: Thanks for sending the Love....how rae things going for you?
Francine: I have eyelashes back...not quite as full as before but a good mascara helps..lol. My eyebrows are really this but I had them tinted at the hairdresser's last week and it ade a big difference. I haven't had to pencil them in since. I think I am going to Vegas the last week of April so before then would work for me.DD called last night. They went to Ellis Island, Statue of Liberty and Ground Zero yesterday. They had dinner at Nobu (sushi) last night and saw John Mayer there. Knicks game tonight and then out to a club. She said the sushi at Nobu was the best she has ever had.
Alyad: So nice to see you and wow...you have a lot of hair. You look fantastic. Your hiking trip sounds amazing and hopefully we can work something out for you to meet up with us. It would be a blast.
Ricki: Thinking of you and wondering how your dear sister is doing
Have a terrific Tuesday ladies
Hugs
Beth P
