Perineural invasion

What is the significance of perineural invasion in Stage 1 disease?  Does that mean it is a more aggressive type of cancer?  I am still "patiently" awaiting my Oncotype report before deciding on my treatment plan.

Just did some real quick research and this is what I found about perineural invasion:  According to John Hopkins Breast Cancer website: perineural invasion meands that "tiny nerve fibers were seen in the tumor"  Also read 2 research article, published on Science Direct's and on Human Pathology's websites.  These articles said that perineural invasion is seen more frequently in ductal, mixed-types and hormone sensitive breast tumors.  They also noted that perineural invasion is also seen with DCIS and some benign breast lesions.  Both articles indicated that the presence or absence of perineural invasion made "no difference in disease-free survival"

I wonder if this is why my lumpectomy scar is so painful to touch even after 2 years.

I have focal perineural invasion on my path report and googled it and this thread came up. Sorry it is an old thread but the information here has made me feel a lot better - "no difference in disease-free survival":)
