I have not been successful w/ traditional treatment for triple negative tumors.  I will soon start taking Platinol and Navelbine.  Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of these two drugs - how successful they were, SE's, etc...

    Hi Rover,

Looking briefly thru Google it appears this is used alot for lung cancer.

Here is a link that will help you with the meds themselves,

    Galnok -

Thanks for the info.  I've spent a fair amount of time researching platinol and have checked chemocare.com - love that site.

Platinol or Cisplatin is an older version of Carboplatin.  Platinol is suppose to be a promising drug for the triple negatives.  It is used to treat many forms of cancer and has been around for a long time.  It's the drug that was used to treat Lance Armstrong.  Unfortunately, I haven't found many ladies who have done the Platinol / Navelbine combo for breast cancer.  Guess I'll be a trendsetter ........

I do know a couple who have tried navelbine....they did not last two month with progression. I'm sorry to say... I've do know they were looking at dusting off Cisplatin again two years ago.  This is a very tough drug. Big issue is earing loss.

My oncol. went over all the possible SE's - none were appealing - but when are they ever??  I will do 2 cycles of these drugs and then re-evaluate w/ imaging tests.  We have not found a combo of drugs yet that have been effective.  In the past 10 months since my diagnosis I have tried:

    - 12 weekly infusions of Taxol and Sutent

    - 15 weekly infusions of AC

    - 6 weeks of Dasatinib and Xeloda

    I'm hoping for the best....

    Rover,

May this combo be the key to your dancing with NED's.  They are telling us next drugs of choice will not be chemos....
