DCIS

Options

Hi, My name is Jackie & I was diagnosed with DCIS in Jan.09 and had a biopsy on Feb.13th. and met with my Dr. to discuss my options last monday. I had cervical problems for 14yrs, every 6mo. paps, 3 or 4 coneizations, Finally they did a hysterectomy in 94. I decided to go with the bilateral mastectomy, the cancer is in the right breast & I have calcifications still in the left too. I skipped a year or so mammograms and that fast one turned on me. I have had calcifications for over 10yrs. I don't want to go through all the mammos anymore, and be stressed out till the Dr.reads the x-rays. I have always had small breasts, till I gained some weight.HaHa. Have had only 1 bra in the dresser & only wore it when I absolutly had to. So I figure that I can't miss what I didn't have to begin with. I guess my question is how do I ware my cute thin strapped summer dresses that I used to ware with no bra? I know this is a funny question since there is still a foot of snow in my front yard. Thanks for reading!

It's kind of in style right now to layer. So, a little tank with skinny straps under the sundress? I do that instead of a bra, anyway, and like the look. It's also very comfortable! Hugs and Prayers to you through your journey.

I had DCIS. My mom had breast cancer, just like me, premenopausal, but she was 55 years old and it had already invaded one node. BRCA-, although the results were surprising since my mother's mother and all her sisters had female hormone cancers. I'm terrified for my 24 and 28 year old daughters.

I wear nothing underneath certain fabrics, and layer like burns suggested under other fabrics. I'm kinda having fun with it as I got to buy a whole new wardrobe. I used to be a 42D so it's been an adventure for sure. I am comfortable enough 3 1/2 months out to go out with a top that shows no breasts while in the beginning I tried to layer a lot more.
