How am I ever gonna keep up with this pace & figure out who-is-who??
I'm a praying-sort-of-person, but I don't know the story of Cathi and Jacki, (or if it's two different stories??) but I'm sending up gobs of prayers for strength and courage..... strength and courage..... strength and courage.
Goodness: Deb-Oh, these gals will NEVER get the two of us confused. LOL. I'm the one eating the raw cookie dough and you're the one actually cleaning.
I just put together a happy little photo-collage of our yard in it's spring splendor. I'm gonna see if I can get it over here, to 'brighten' the place up a tad. Stay tuned.
Edited to add the collage here, since it appears I've been given the responsibility of starting a new 'page.'

I know yer pretty far away Stacy but can you send your Mom over here when she's done there?
-
Had to run an errand at an office today and the secretary had to take a call while I was there. Apparently someone was asking about a lady who didn't have health insurance and had a $36,000 bill for breast surgery. Apparently she was asking the secretary how this could be and the secretary now off the phone and relating the story to us said "She's wondering how someone could have a $36,000 bill for breast surgery, I (secretary talking) told her it was probably cancer and she says what did they give her a gold boob!) all the while giggling about the whole thing.
For some reason it just made my heart ache, first at how sorry I was someone had to face this stuff without insurance, second how funny the secretary thought it was while my heart was being ripped out. The tears started to surface but I just kept telling myself to stay seated and just realize she had no idea how hurtful her words were to me. I could feel my husbands eyes on me but thankfully he didn't say anything or I know I would have lost it. I'm glad for her that her life hasn't been touched by this stuff.
I could
-
Mom, so sory you had to experience that. My dh would have ripped her head off!! What is wring with people!
-
Makes me think more about trying to connect with women here where I live. There is probably alot of hurting women who don't know about breast cancer boards or have friends just to chat to about the every day issues of this stuff.
-
Maybe I should have reached in and pulled out my $500 breast forms and said some witty response which I'm incapable of thinking of right now.
-
Mom, I agree! We need some way to recognize each other!
-
(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((mom)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
people are only as 'sensative/informed' as their life experience has led them
i personally would have gone ahead and cried big crocodile tears -- splashing them all over her desk...... [tho someone that dense probably STILL wouldn't have 'gotten' it]
-
Thanks Linda and Faith, I just wasn't expecting that scenario and was unprepared.
I am so trying to think of something we could all get hold of for that connection to each other. What about a bracelet (not the plastic/rubber kind) but a gold chain with a gold/gold plated boob hanging from it. That way we would always have it on and it would be easy to recognize. Of course I'm not sure how many gold boob charms there are out there. Surely we can think of something.
-
MOM....Maybe this is YOUR CALLING.....Be Creative & Go with it.....
!!!!!
-
That little face sure can put a smile on mine
I was just trying to look at charms for bracelets and on ebay there is someone who has a little vaccuum cleaner for $1.99 and then $1.50 for shipping. That should be cheap enough for anyone who wants one. I'll try to copy the picture here. I may buy one just to see what the quality is. What do you all think? I've sent the seller a couple of questions so I'll let you know what she says.
-
I can afford it!
Maybe we could find a way to let each other know where we live. Perhaps there are other BCO users in your locale that you just don't know about. I think I told you all that I met a sister that lives less than a mile from me. I wonder if there are others out there!
-
I've met 3 girls off this place, Met Jill323 at Chemo, like 3 or so times...and just recently gandl came from Missouri, and LuAnn and I met her at a Frisch's.. ALL supernice and very sweet women.........
-
Good for you Deb! I thought it was so neat to meet one! You are three times as lucky!!
-
I've met about 30 BCO survivors. Seriously. Probably more.
There was a team of us that walked the Detroit Komen.
Then I was able to round up a group of 12 when we were in FL earlier this year.......
I've met two gals while up in WI......
Two here in Ohio so far.
I'm seriously the fortunate one!!
-
Faith - you win! How awesome. How did you do it?
-
Well I travel a LOT...... and so when I am headed some where I put out a note on the 'Getting Together' thread.
The MI gals are totally organized.
We've met up for lunch since the walk -- one day when I was headed up further north. We had a group of 5 that got together that day.
My WI buddy, Saint and I have met up about 5 times. She came to Chicago when I had a conference to give, there. She helped and we ran around the city together. Her avatar pic is from our time together.
-
Well, seeing how my mom is quickly getting under my very thin skin..i would LOVE to send her your way Deb.
-
Julz is my next 'rendez-vous' when I'm in PA in a couple weeks. We've had it on the calendar for seasons!! We just found out that we're gonna be housed in an awesome B&B! Seriously.
-
Linda click on the forum index on the upper left corner of this page, then scroll way down to connecting with others and look for get togethers. Then you can post where you live and see if others respond. Sometimes its so far down I doubt alot of women here see it.
-
Good for you Faith. Have fun!!
Caligirl, if your mom cleans, send her my way!
-
Faith you let me know if you ever get to Lexington. I'm telling you all if that B&B castle ever opens up here we will have to have a BCO.org get together. I'd love meeting all of you.
-
The lady wrote back from ebay. The charm bracelet is called an italian bracelet and comes in links so it may not be what were looking for. Will keep an eye out for something easier.
-
OK Housework Sisters....I need to let you all know something about me.....I let MOM know in a PM & still she welcomed me.....I am one that has not been DX with bc.....I had 2 groups of suspicious calcification's show up last year in my yearly mammo. Finally after 2 1/2 months of waiting I got b9 results in my biopsy.....But they were not able to see clearly & biopsy the second group of microcals so I got put on a watch & see for a year. I am a supporter as my MIL & SIL have both had bc. We have had many that have had & now battle in my church & hometown. I had been reading here & saw a few friends I have here post. So when I posted I did not realize just where this thread was located at. I wanted to make sure you all know & I am on the up & up with all.
So in regards to meeting ppl from here.....I have not met anyone yet.....But that will be changing the first week in May as Faith & I are going to Have a Girls night out! She is coming to my state for her work & I am traveling a few hours to meet her! If you are interested I am sure we will keep you all posted.....
-
Julz4 So glad you have good news! I'm glad your here with us and hope that you don't ever get a dx.
-
We love ya even if you do have two good boobs!
-
Mom, you said it much better than I did!
-
Nite all, gonna go find me some chicken to boil in a pot tommorrow with some dumplins. Everyone's invited!
-
Oh my, some gals really worked today!! I lost one of my cats,Pumpkin at 17 yrs of age in 2006 while I was on chemo.I begged her to hold on til I was done but she couldn't..I still miss her. And then 2 months later I lost a 5 yr "Patches".What a year that was!! She got hit by a car and was killed. She was an outside cat cause my mom found her and I took her in. I couldnt keep her in the house cause she know what outside was. Now I only have 1 cat"Sweetie Lizzie" who is 2 1/2 yrs old.
Well tonight after work, I did a few things...took down the Easter decorations (lol..last night was my xmas village).Did some laundry.Put some boxes in the basement that were hanging up here in my spare room. Then I made ribbons for a Tricky Tray that my friend is working on. Now I am tired. Having a snack then going to bed. I did read back but can't comment now. Lots of posts today...soemtimes I just cant keep up.
Love to all'Hugs and prayers
-
