Any recommendations on a vacuum cleaner for cat hair?

Beth--Gotta get the Gonzo...... The ceiling swifter is what I've been using thus far but I'm going through the replacements so fast. Nothing seems to touch the air and refrigerator vents----gross
I think the Roomba will be able to handle the in between vacuuming once the initial crud is out of the rugs....
I was so embarrassed and apologetic about the appearance of my floors. --I had the Verizon people out to connect service and had spent hours vacuuming to no avail...... Looked like the carpet was completely untouched and I was exhausted for days afterward......
I think I'll be looking for the Dyson 17 or 14 -----whether to take a chance on a refurbished is the question.........
Incidentally I managed to get one of the defective Fios boxes. Technician says that is next to unheard of.......... They tried to tell me I'd have to pay cause I didn't buy their "Guardian" plan........ Fortunately, since it was only installed the previous week it fell under the thirty day warranty.------
Murphy's law is hovering so, new which has a five year warranty or refurbished with six months........
Besides Madalyn have any of you had experience with refurbished?

Seriously, try the green scrubbie pads from the supermarket. I forget what you call them. They are dark green, very rough, flat, about 5 x 7". I cut them in half to make them easier to use.
Since I've been raising angora rabbits for about 20 years, I know all about fluff and how to deal with it.

Well I took the plunge---Fry's had a refurbished Dyson Absolute DC 17 for 200.00. It arrived a few days ago-----You wouldn't believe what this thing picked up.
I had spent a day running and emptying my Roomba just a few days before, and yet just running the Dyson in 2 small rooms yesterday I had to empty completely full canisters 10 times! (and it's a big bin) This thing picked up an amazing amount of cat hair.
I thought it would be hard to roll around but as long as the beater bar is on it feels almost self- propelled.
Since it is refurbished, I'm wondering whether to buy an extended warranty from Square Trade.
Anyone have any experience with how the refurbished hold up. There is only a six month warranty from Dyson- hence my consideration of Square Trade.
By the way, the Furminator is making a big difference too, with the shedding--can't believe what it takes off the cat.........amazing.....

We have a Eureka - brand new... sucks the paint off the walls.... no cat hair stirring their way during company. The upright demon of vacuums has a self cleaning feather duster.... so cool. We have a cat tree house. It is rope and carpet construction and we have 2 black and white cats. When we got the tree house, it was 25 years old and covered in cat hair dating back to then... they just could not get the hair off. Well the Eureka did - using the upholstry attachment, we had no problem... that is when we discovered that it was not brown but PURPLE. Now I am hoping the cats cover it back up.
