FrownAnother question, So I had my MRI it says the cancer is over 2 times the size that I had been told from the mammogram. from.9 to 1.8.  They said that they would still be able to do the lumpectmy with reconstruction = breast reduction (I am less than a B cup now) So I am not too happy with this.

The reason for the "reduction" is the location of the cancer 10 o'clock on the left breast. I will have rad. I am currently sick with a cold (had the flue shot) I still haven't done my cbc because of being sick.  My surgery is scheduled for Mar 9 and I really want to get this over with I was given the DX back in January. Anyone know how long it takes to get pre opp results?

Has any one had surgery with a remnants of a cold?  I would be grateful for any information.

thank you kat

    Hi Kat

Although the MRI may show that the cancer is larger, they won't really know until they take it out.  I can't remember the actual numbers but I remember that my MRI showed the spot to be about 2 times the size as what was seen on Mammogram.  After surgery, the pathology report showed that it was somewhere in between.

If you get your blood work done at the hospital you are having surgery you should be able to do the CBC less than 24 hours before surgery because that test is fairly quick.  If you have it done somewhere else, it may be harder for the results to get where they need to go.  Of course I think they like it if you do it a week ahead so if there are any problems with your labs they can reschedule you and it won't be short notice for the OR.

One of my surgeries was at the tail end of a cold.  As long as you don't have a fever they will still do the surgery.

Good Luck - I hope all goes well.
