Her2+ now Her2- !!!!!!!!!!!

dx sept 2005 tumour removed lymph nodes removed chemo and rad taken. started herceptin 17 treatments,Her2+. Scan found bone tumor in chest may 2008, back on herceptin 15 treatments, talked to radiation doc Xmas 2008, a radiation plan was put together. Doc said he wanted a biopsy done -so that he could confirm that it was infact cancer returning. had tests done oncologist informed that the status had changed from Her2+ to Her2-. I think herceptin will be stopped. I cant believe they did not send  for a biopsy when the scan picked it up in april 2008.

Have I being taken herceptin without needed too?

Where to from here and is there anyone with similar story

well my mom's doc took out the left lymph glands last November. Some of them were cancerous and only 1 or 2 were HER2+. At least one of them was HER2-. The doctors said that the biopsy has to be done to all tumours and if at least one of these was HER2+ then she had to take Herceptin. As I have understood there is a chance the doctors to send for biopsy only a piece of the tumour if they are in a hurry! However I think that since the status of HER2 has changed there is a new cancer- not a returning.

I wish you find out what has really happened...
