Lower Back Pain After Lat Flap

I had lat flap surgery on January 19 and resumed my walking (3 miles a day) about 3-1/2 weeks later.  Now, I am beginning to get some lower back pain.  I have never had back pain in my life.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Of course, my first thought was bone mets, but it really feels like muscle tightness.

I would love to hear ideas as to how to deal with it from anyone that has experienced it.  I really don't want to stop my walking, as I am trying SO HARD to lose weight.

    Hello Kay

Sorry to hear about you lower back pain.  I have just noticed that my upper back tends to hurt sometimes.  I am trying to find out why I have (over the last several weeks) started to tighten up from by back (LD flaps) across my chest like it felt when I had the expanders.  I am thinking it might be from working with weight machines and working the LD muscles which is not in its original place.  That is why I am here on this forum.  I am so glad that we have BC.org.  Doctors won't tell us anything and if they do then it seems like they all have different opinions about things.....very confusing......   do massaging, don't massage etc....

    Hope your back improves  ((hugs))

I too have pain and my surgery was in October.  I think it is because I am more active now that chemo is over.  At least that is what I am hoping.

I haven't had a LAT flap, but I have had lower back pain in the past. What really helped me was adding Pilates to my cardio routine. Anything you can do to strengthen your abs will help support your back. Hope this is helpful.
