This is a great thread. I was lucky enough to live near cousins, so we played alot! I remember having parades on our bicycles. We would use clothes pins to pin playing cards on the spokes so it would make lots of noise! We used ribbons and anything else we could find to decorate our bike. Of course, we had bike horns too, so we made lots of racket going down the road :)

Another memory is my cousin and I would pretend with our dolls to be going to school. Her dad drove a school bus, so one of us would be the driver, opening and closing the door was the most fun!! Our dolls would sit in the seats. We usually had to get on to them for talkingWink

OK......now I'm starting to bore ya'll. But just one more. My dad worked nights and EVERY Saturday morning he would bring home for my brother, sister and I a "Little Debbie nutty bar" and put it on the table. He was always asleep when we woke up on Saturdays, but that's what we had for breakfast every Saturday. He passed away 9 years ago at the age of 60. I miss him still, but sure have some good memories. It's the little things we remember. Ya'll have a great day!! Make some memories!

Edit to add: Pam, so sorry you didn't get your chickies. Maybe you can get some this Easter?

Another one I have Is Going to the Rock Quarries with my Sisters all summer long.

I was age 6-9 when we lived near them.  It was this fantastic 'park'  With Granite & Ponds all over.  Moss growing- all sorts of varieties...Some Moss was very long- Like 6" Tall!  I loved it.  We Would Spend  all day hanging out there.

(its now all Houses Frown  )

We'd Collect Tadpoles & bring them home in pails to watch them morph to Frogs...Then we'd bring them back to the Quarry.

Because of this time in my Life...One of My Favorite sounds is the Red Winged Black Bird call...When Ever I hear that Bird It brings me back to when Life was Easy & Carefree.

I was the youngest of 4 kids, three of us girls. My dad worked swing and graveyard shifts to make "extra" money as our mom didn't work. I know, I know...a mom always works! I remember the rare Saturday mornings and sitting on the kitchen counter and dad would give me a cup of coffee. Mostly sugar and milk, but it was our time without all the others. My dad is 83 and is a colon and kidney survivor.

My mom sewed most of our clothes and I remember we had a fashion show at our grade school. As I was modeling my dress with matching bikini scarf, I was asked to show the matching shorts...ummmm...we forgot the shorts! Needless to say, I ran off of the stage. I long for those days of blissful simplicity...

My two cousins and I used to wear mini skirts and go go boots and put on dance shows for our parents.  We used to make them PAY to watch us!  I think we charged 3 cents!  One of our favorite routines included Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots" and we'd stand on boxes and boogie like 1960's go go dancers.  Towards the end of the song when she said, "Are you ready boots . . . start walking" we'd start to walk up the stairs one at a time.  For full effect, we'd look over our shoulder.  I'm sure our parents had to struggle very hard not to laugh hysterically at our antics!!

We were all about putting on plays and shows.  It was lots of fun.

Weekend drives.   I can close my eyes and still feel the warmth from the sun, the wind & the smell of the sea.  We'd all pile into Dad's car, all 4 kids in the back seat(scary no seat belts on back then)  Mom would make roast beef sandwiches, with slices of pickles.  She would actually cook a roast & make the bread homemade.  Today I couldn't imagine doing all that, just to make sandwiches, lol.  I can still see Mom handing out the sandwiches, as we sit on the hill overlooking the sea.  Then we'd go swimming, go to the wharf for lobsters, then go home.

I miss my Mom sooooo muchCry

My favorite memory is sitting in the bedroom and watching my mother sew matching dresses for me and her.......I was the youngest of 13 and it was nice to have a new dress......I remember one Easter my mother ordered a brand new dress form the Sears Roebuck catalog...It was light yellow and had puffy skirts that billowed out and she had bought little white patent leather shoes....I felt like a princess.....I still remember the excitement when I saw the box when I came home from school and it had MY name on it!.....LOL   .......I rememebr when I had the mumps and my mother would come lay with me and hug me........My best friend Russell got German measles when we were in 1st grade......I tried my best to get them from him so I could stay home from school and play with him.....Well years later I found out the reason I was the only one allowed to play with him was that I had already had them at age 3!.....No wonder I could never get them to stay home!!....LOL

Awwwh  gee....I miss my mom and my best friend sooooo much!....Both are long gone now........

My Mom sewed Us Dresses too.

I remember a Matching Dress that My Sisters & I had.  it was the neatest pattern.  A Pleated Jumper.  She made it from Red White & Blue Stripes & Designed it so The Pleat Hid one color.

We  all wore them to my Dads Graduation when he got his  Degree.

We dont have any pictures of the dressesFrown   Nor the dresses. I do have her Pattern though & made my dds each a dress when they were little.
