    Hi Geri,

Glad your surgery is over and that is GREAT news that your sentinel nodes were negative.  That's a tough decision on whether to remove the other breast prophylactically.  I chose to remove my good breast but I had a bi-lateral with reconstruction so I only had ONE surgery.  I would probably go ahead with chemo if that is what they are recommending and after you have completed treatment revisit removing the other breast.  After my bi-lateral the path of my good breast revealed atypical cells so I was glad I had it removed because I truly believe it would have cooked up the same thing in time.  You have time to make these decisions.  Good luck and keep us posted on your next step of treatment.

    Hi Liz,

Thanks for the advice - thing were removed from my decision to a degree on Thursday when I developed pneumonia after the port insertion.  The b/s told me she would not do a prophelactic mastectomy now, because of the pneumonia, and she wants me to take the 10 days antibiotics and then get on with the chemo - there was a sign on a church nearby me "Everything is in God's hands - leave it there", and that's what I'm going to do.

Have 2nd opinion onc app't tomorrow, just to be sure the A/C +T+Herceptin is the way to go - also sending my path slides for 2nd reading.

    Thanks for the support,

    Geri
