Hi Bethie,
I just wanted to pop in and say hi. I grew up in Amsterdam, spent alot of time in Albany and surrounding areas, when I married I moved to Cobleskill (west of Albany close to Copperstown) I hated it there.
I now live in Fl. Hope you find some good friends to connect with there.
I still have lots of family up there, a daughter still in Cobleskill, but we don't go that far N much - toooooooooooooo cold for me.
XOXOXOXOXO -Cathi

Hi, I'm not sure if you saw my response last week or so. I live off of New Scotland Ave. I'm having my chemo treatment at NYOH. Where are you going? I did mention that I also used Suzanne Krieinberg as my breast surgeon. Glad to hear you're feeling good. What kind of treatment are you getting? I'm getting TC 6x. I'm half way through my first 3 week session. Feeling pretty good at this point. I'm planning on checking out Gilda's Club at some point. Are you interested in going? Suzanne

Im just south of Albany. Just finished chemo in November, radiation in Feb - had my surgery first back in July (bilateral w immediate reconstrucition) Had my exchange in December.
Doing well - just got back from a few days in Texas for a mini vacation!
I go to NYOH too (don't we all!)
-
Hey Mary and Suzanne!! I'm near New Scotland Ave as well--go to St.Peter's for my treatment, but know where NYOH is! I'm getting alot of my "supplies" if you will at To Life in Delmar.
Mary--do you live off Rte 9W in Glenmont/Bethlehem area?
Suzanne-- gilda's club sounds great!! Let me know what's good for you

I live off 144. My daughter works at the supermarket in Glenmont :-)
I got my wig at Tolife - they were wonderful.
I checked out Gildas - great programs. You both should check out "Look Good Feel Better program" at Gildas (sponsored by ACS I think) They also have support groups and classes, etc.
-
I signed up for "Look Good, Feel Better" through ACS for March 2. It's from 10-12 in the morning at Gilda's Club. Are you interested in going, I'll pass on the phone number if you need it. I got a wig at ToLife today, they were great there. I didn't know that St. Pete's still did chemo there, I thought all the doctors went over to NYOH. I can actually walk to St. Pete's from my house, very convienent. I'll be doing radiation over there.

Check out the CRAAB website - http://www.craab.org/
There are free yoga and pilates classes in the area for survivors. I am also starting a TeamSurvivor Affiliate in the Capital Region with walk/runs and race training plans. I will keep you both posted. PM me your email addresses if you are interested in more info!
I found that daily exercise helped me through out treatment - some days it was a short walk, others it was a run - whatever I could do that day!

Hey Anne!!! Whereabouts in Clifton Park? I'm in the heart of Albany

Hello Ladies,
Where did you all go? Hope everyone is getting on OK. I live in Albany too...diagnosed 2005, stage IV, ER/PR+, HER2- and still chugging along after six cycles of Avastin/Taxol and a bit of the old radiation to the spine. In remission since 2006! That's four years so all you stage III ers keep your chins up! Did the Gilda's thing a long time ago, are any of you going there now? Yes, I recommend To Life as well, although there's been some changes at the boutiques lately, the jury is out on whether they are for the better or not. I don't check this site much, just happened to stop by but will answer anyone who posts as I get email notifications with new posts, I think....it's been a while. Happy to help with any questions.

Hi my name is Barb and my sister was diagnosed with BC on 2/5/10. We have an appointement w/ Dr Sue K on Monday. Can you tell me all about your experience? Thnaks!
-
ey Barb!! First off, sorry I'm responding back so late. I haven't been on here much since raadiation ended Aug 2009!!! My experience with her was OK. Unfortunately, she realized after the surgery on January 16, 2009 that she put my port up too high in my chest wall. I went for an out-patient procedure to have port replaced after chemo nurses couldn't access port on my 1st day of chemo. I'm now just about 1 year in remission
Hope everything went well

I am a newly diagnosed breast cancer patient (3 days) and facing my first surgeon's appointment today. I am fairly new to NY & don't even know where to go for the best help. May I ask for referrals for the best treatment? I am in Loudonville.

Hi, my partner was diagnosed 2 weeks ago. We live in Averill Park. We liked the cancer treatment center at Samaritan hospital. Dr Singh and Dr Reddy are very nice. As far as surgeon, I have gone to Dr Silk in troy. Liked him, but unsure. Gypsygirl, its overwhelming, email me if you would like.
