Hi, my name is Debra and I am 42 years old.  I have lurked quite often as so many of your stories and experiences and questions have helped me through my treatments.   I am married with 3 boys (ages 12,11, and 9).  I was diagnosed with IBC Jan 18 of last year.  My final pathology report showed that I had 2 lymph nodes involved.  I had 6 rounds of taxotere and carboplatin and also 52 weeks of Herceptin.  I had a Left MRM June 5 of last year with not complications and began rads the first of July.  My last PET was Nov. 10. 08 and it showed no more cancer (yahoo)

I am currently seeing a PS to determine the best reconstruction method for me.  ( it will either be a tram or lat flap).  I have pretty much decided to remove the other breast at the time of recon. 

I love this board and thought it might be a good idea to jump in with a post.  I have also posted about my recon decision I need to make.

Hi Debra

It's good to have you on the boards. It sounds like you've got the worst of it behind you. I was diagnosed in Nov 07 and finished chemo last March and Herceptin last month. I chose to have a bilateral mast. without reconstruction. At the time, I didn't feel like I could handle anymore pain. I may change my mind one day, but for now, I just feel lucky to be finished treatments. Good luck to you! Keep us posted, ok? There are some wonderful women here:)  hugs to you......

Congrats on finishing your txs! It sounds like you had a great response!

I had a mod rad mast at diagnosis. I put off reconstruction until I was a little ways out from diagnosis. I just wasn't up for another surgery. I had a lat flap flap w/ expander on my bc side and a propylactic mast w/ expander placed on the other. I have expanders in now and am awaiting the exchange. So far so good.
