AMAZING RACE 2009

For Amazing Race fans. The new season is here.
-
Did anyone else watch last night? How hilarious was the cheese wheel competition? I thought I would PIMP from laughing so hard. Watching those cheese wheels roll and the people chasing them and the camera shots of the 'locals' hooting at the crazy race people. Oh my! What a great start to the show. It was hilarious.
-
I have to agree... I laughed my socks off when the cheese started rolling down the hills. And when the carriers started breaking and they kept slipping.... and then scooting down the hill! Oh my.... one of the funniest episodes I can remember.
The couple that was last was the first couple to start bickering. He was scolding her all over the place. Oh yea... so was the country couple. He was hard on her til she started scooting down the hill.....lol I thought the country couple would be last.
Isn't this a great show.
-
Yes, we watched it and had to rewind the cheese thing. It was so funny. Me and the kids kept wondering why they didn't try to roll the cheese slowly?
-
Well, I didn't think the country couple would make it too long. I just knew she would get lost coming down the mountain. The pie thing was pretty good but not nearly as good as the cheese the week before!
-
Just seeing this now. That week with the cheese was the funiest I've seen. I kept repeating it on tivo and was rolling on the floor. I was sorry to see Amanda and Chris were eliminated, I like them and they worked hard.
-
I just saw this now - I agree about Amanda & Chris - they would have still been in it if they hadn't been u-turned. I was really surprised (and disappointed) that anyone would use the u-turn so early in the competition. I guess the fact that it was anonymous pushed them to do it. I am enjoying this season - I am not sure who I am rooting for yet, I pretty much like everyone but the country couple and the only reason i didn't like them was him - I really thought he was in the wrong when he was trying to scare another team about the bungee jump - he was saying "are you sure you want to do this? You could snap back and break your neck". I thought that was so unnecessary.
-
Wow, is this the first time a team has ever been penalized?!!!! Two 30 minute penalities....just goes to show that cheaters never win. I thought it was pretty nasty what that team did with the tire pumps but surprised that they have penalties for something like that. And then to hire help in the race. Wow!
-
Other years there have been penalties for not following the instructions, like getting somebody to lead them when the directions said to find you way to ..., or getting a private citizen to take them when directions said to take public transportation to ... (previous year). I am glad that they did get the penality for messing with the tire pumps and tools. Each time they don't follow the rules, they get a 30 minute penality.

15 minutes to showtime!
-
Well, nobody eliminated but the same team got a 4 hour penalty! Did these guys read the rules for this game?? What good luck for those girls though. Sure saved them. Let's see if these guys can overcome the 4 hour penalty and the speed bump next week. So happy for Luke and his mother. They are kicking some AR butt.
-
I was watching something else last night (PBS Dickens classic 'Little Dorritt') but did see where they got the penalty. I need to look it up and see what they did this time to get that 4 hour penalty.

They used personal possesions (watch, flashlight, compass) to pay for their taxi rides two times because they were out of money. Apparently, that is against the rules.
-
What a fun show last night. Kind of creepy with the teeth dentures thing going on but hilarious.
The two little men and their way of doing things is sure a new twist on the show. It'll be interesting if they make it out of this four hour time out.
Also happy for Luke and his Mama.
-
I am a fan of the Amazing Race. I root for those who tend to be nice to each other in spite of the very clear solutions they miss. I think this group overall is a nicer bunch....not so mean-just competing and that makes the show -for me- easier to watch.
-
Well, last night was kind of sad. I think Luke is getting really caught up in the competition and losing sight of things. I hate to see the conflict between the teams. Sorry to see the two brothers go but they messed up and it is what it is. I didn't get the duck fishing thing.
-
I am also sad to Luke & his mom fighting with the other team - they were both pushing and shoving and they were both in the wrong. They should apologize to each other and move on from there. The girls were under the incorrect impression that Luke & his mom had told their taxi driver in the previous week to give wrong directions to the girl's taxi driver - they didn't give wrong directions, they just didn't share any directions with him. I think there is a big difference in purposely misdirecting and just not sharing, but the girls think that they were purposely misdirected - I think that is where this nastiness is coming from. Too bad they can't just clear the air. I am still looking forward to Sunday night's show.
-
I do watch this show and enjoy it very much and like others have noticed the extreme attitude between Luke. Mom. and the two girls. It also looked as if the host was a bit fed up with it too by his voice and body language.
This season sure has had some unique twists like with the two little brothers not following the rules and getting a time out. They did leave with grace though.
The side we are seeing of Luke and his Mom is not a pretty one.
I saw him push the girl plain and right out there. Good thing for rewinds to see it for sure.
I have enjoyed seeing the brother and sister become closer and that he listens to her now.
They are a good positive part of what can happen on the show. -
Well, that was a dirty trick! The first time the girls win, they don't win. It does give hope to the sisters, even though they don't know about it yet. Who do you think will win? I'm thinking Tammy & Vincent - they really have grown in their relationship and are working together very well. Luke's mom is beginning to grate on my nerves - when they discovered at the airport that they could not use the credit card at the counter they were at, she was complaining that the sisters went ahead of them at the correct counter - I think that was a bit much. It is a race and they have a right to move up if they can. I think Luke's mom is being too sensitive and acting kinda "entitled" which really drives me nuts. JMHO
-
Anne, it seems that at close to the end of the race, they have done the -this leg of the race isn't finished yet. You can usually tell what leg it is because there isn't a 'local' there on the mat welcoming you to their country. I only saw parts of the race last night, still watching "Little Dorritt" on Masterpiece Theater on PBS. I missed Luke's mom complaining and what I have seen she does act somewhat entitled because of her son's handicap. It was nice to see the two black girls working together through the one's fear of water and the other one wearing the life vest to help her sister feel more comfortable in the pool.
Sheila
-
I think its silly to complain when everyone is going to end up on the same flight anyway. So they got their tickets first. Big deal.
I can't believe the big deal the girl made about swimming the pool when they told her she could wear a swim vest. She wasted so much time! I mean, slap a vest on yourself and get to paddling those arms and legs girl!
Regarding the conflict between the two teams, I think it initially started because the two girls are under the impression (erroneously) that Luke and his mom misdirected them or had their cab driver misdirect them on an earlier leg of the race. I think they baited Luke a bit over this and he is very young and hasn't learned to control his emotions. And then it just started escalating.
I can't blame the mom for reacting when she thinks they are making fun of her son's disability. I would probably feel the same.
I am rooting for the brother and sister as well.
-
Yay!!!! The two sisters were eliminated. Three teams left. I think it will be the brother and sister to win. The food ordering thing was hilarious with the subtitles of what was being said. What a unique language where one little thing can have you saying some outrageously funny things! I was surprised that they used the u-turn on the sisters. I was very happy. Boy, that one girl could really chow down those 'crispy critters.'
-
I watched part of it last night - we had movie night at church (the Ultimate gift) and I didn't get home until 8:30. It was funny with the restraunt ordering and the subtitles. I am torn between the mother/son and brother/sister to win the whole thing.
Sheila
-
I don't believe, knowing how close the other team was, they stopped for the rest room!!! That was so stupid!!! It seemed almost as if they didn't want to continue. I hope the brother & sister win - yes, they did have an edge in China, but I think they learned to work together the best. Finale next week!!!
-
And the winner is...Tammy and Victor. I would have been okay with any of the three teams left winning this. I felt so bad for Luke. He was so disappointed. This was a very good season.
-
I was glad that Tammy & Victor won - I think they worked together the best and their relationship did evolve more than any other teams'. It was a good season - now to finish up Survivor & Dancing with the Stars and I won't know what to do with myself!
-
I did think it was a good season. The last 3 teams were willing to work together and it was good of the cheerleaders and Luke to work together to finish the last task.
