Tingly Foot

Hi Ladies,

I have had an off and on tingly foot for a couple of weeks. I did not do chemo so it is not related to that. I have also had some weird sensations in my leg which seem to be muscular and move around. These sensations also come and go. I don't have any pain and can function normally. I have read a few articles that tamoxifen sometimes caused a tingly sensation under the skin which is a less common side affect. I'm wondering if it could be related to the medication and of course worried because every little ache and pain brings me to a dark place after being told I have cancer. I have been on tamoxifen since last October. Has anyone else experienced this?

    Hi bluebell,

Thanks so much for your response. Well, the weird tingly sensation disappeared after a few weeks. I had blood work done at my onc's office about a month later and everything came back normal. Since that time I have not experienced anything like it. I still feel it had something to do with the tamox and adjusting to taking it. I went to taking it every other day for awhile and that seemed to help. It was also suggested to me by one of the ladies on this site to drink tonic water with quinine. It was very bitter, but also seemed to help. Best of luck to you as well from New Hampshire!

The quinine in the tonic water, just like the malaria medication can supress the effectiveness of the Tamoxifen, so probably not an issue if you have it once, but if you're doing it daily, you may be working against the Tamoxifen.

I only drank it a couple of times. I couldn't even imagine drinking it daily. It's was bitter!  I'm sure no harm was done.
