Positive Obama supporter thread take 4

I have really enjoyed this forum and am sorry they are putting it out to pasture. I have my bookmark in my browser and will come back as long as it's on air!
I really do think that liberals should not post over on Republicans and conservatives should not post here - let's stay on our own boards. Actually the Moderates board might be the place for a good debate to occur.
I think we can all tell the difference between an honest question and a troll entry (where the questioner has an answer already in mind LOL)
Glad to hear about the COBRA - it has been a real problem for people. My sister spent all her savings on COBRA a couple years ago - it was $1500/month for the 4 in her family for the 6 months he was laid off. They haven't recouped it because he needs overtime to make enough money and they aren't giving him any more overtime. So if he's laid off again, he sunk, but this should help.
She has Lyme so also pre-existing condition problems. You can't let things lapse - therefore must do Cobra - to keep insurance companies from doing the pre-existing dance. Girlfriend had to wait a year before getting anything covered with her new employer based insurance.

Annie: It's so good to see you. I was just starting to feel connected with you when the changes occurred. The pre-existing dance stinks but is very real especially after being diagnosed with breast cancer.
It's seems like despite the banking problems I keep getting new credit card offers and offers for life insurance in the mail all the time. Today I got one for life insurance, they got my name through my credit union of all places. Anyways, I looked at it and thought yeah right, like I will be able to get life insurance after my bc diagnosis. Just answer this quick questionaire about your medical history. I had to wait until I got to question #7! You had to be out of treatment and not seeing an onc for seven years!
I also got 5 checks from a credit card company telling me I was pre-approved for $5,000.00. Now tell me how is this stuff still happening with what is going on with the economy?
I really agree with what you said about not posting on the Republican thread and vice versa. I have never posted there, but made the mistake of reading there. I think Obama is doing a great job and the approval ratings are proving it. I sincerely believe in my heart this is not about us against them. It's about working together hand in hand to help get this country out of the mess it is in.
WHOOOOOO HOOOOOO Change is here and it sure feels good.

unique- I agree with you about sticking to this thread. I've never had the inclination to post over on the republican thread, since i'd have nothing to contribut postively. You're right, it's easy to figure out the difference between honest discussion and looking to cause conflict. I've had a lot of success using the ignore button/.
I'm quite happy with Obama. I haven't agreed with everything he's done, although I never expected to. I think it's curious that some people seem to be unhappy with Obama no matter what he does. If he said, "I am signing an executive order to proclaim the sky is blue." There are some people that would piss and moan that he wasn't reaching across the aisle or claim he was failing. LOL. Obama has some diverse views, all the way over on the conservative side, most in the middle and some on the right. That pleases most democrats and moderate republicans and even some conservatives. That's good enough. Obama is without a doubt the right person for the job and we are lucky to have him. I don't think any other president could fair as well as he's been doing.

achieng - your avatar is awesome!

Whoops, don't do spell check here. I just did it and I lost my post.
Thanks Annie - change is good. I like your new avatar too.
I thought you made yourself clear sunny, I feel the same way. At least Obama isn't the same old, same old politician. I can already feel a sense of peace with other countries. I can't wait until they stop seeing us as the bad guy. Now when it comes to the tax cut, I think it's all a matter of ones perspective. Last year my raise from the company I work for was $65.00/month. This year we have already been told we won't be getting a raise. For me, things evened out pretty good and I know I will use that extra money.
Amy, if only others could see Obama the way we do. I want him to be successful. I want his new ideas and changes. I love when I see him jumping down those stairs of AF1 like a youngster. It's great having him as President. For our great Country, for the World, and for our families.
WHOOOOOO HOOOOO change is here and it sure feels good.

Hi Grace,
My avatar is my mii from the Wii FIT game. I took a snapshot of it with my little digital camera, then cleaned it up in Photoshop. It's so cute I think!!! It sort of looks like "mii." I made it for the Wii FIT board on here in the Diet and Fitness area. We who have the game for exercising are comparing our scores on various games to keep up our excitement about exercising.

Grace, loved to hear your plans. I think all this CHANGE is very exciting but also scary. Your plans are lovely and raised my spirits. YES WE CAN!

I'm worried about everything, Grace - my retirement funds, I mean it is half gone, and I was conservative in my allocations. I'm not sure my work will still be here when my clients go bust. My one web client is worried changing health insurance will mean his biopharm business will go to pot. I am so hoping for health care to get reformed but I'm also worried about it. I have some health issues and am in a fairly good place with my insurance. (I have socialized medicine actually, a Blue Cross for those in my state without another health insurance, and it's pretty good, better than others with jobs have, altho it is expensive.) I think it would be good if EVERYONE can get insured, but I hope to keep what I have ...
But I keep telling myself, Obama is our best chance for a future. YES WE CAN!

is there an easy way to find this thread??? by the time I find it, I am worn out and tired...and grumpy!! But, I wanted to respond to Achi's post re credit card offers in the mail........I am so tired of half of the daily mail being a "You've been approved....." and just recently, lots of letters to refinance our mortgage.........I can certainly understand how some people can get suckered into responding and signing up! We have received a few seemingly really great offers, but when you sit down and put pencil to paper and calculate things out--it is a total rip-off--would not live long enough to reap any benefit. So, the VULTURES are out there and it scares me that many people will be duped by the economic stimulus changes and end up worse than they were. Absolutely not the fault of the govt, but the private companies trying to gain an advantage...oh yeah--and the other half of the mail is companies wanting hubby to enroll in their Medicare Plan ...and, they are pretty much wasting all their advertising money to him because he had to enroll in Part A, no choice and no cost to him...and has excellent health care coverage from his retirement..........so much money is wasted on useless mailing and we have to throw away so much paper--it doesn't make sense to me--and in a couple years I will turn 65 and go through the same bombardment of mail...give me a break!!!
OK--off my soap box asnd thanks--hugggsssssss to everyone!!!

grace- I'd like to never have a republican president either!
sunny- the guy who made that fake documentary is a loon. Not even worth discussing.
Did you guys see the oscars last night? How much do we LOVE Sean Penn. I just love how he gave a shout out to Obama and the crowd went wild. I also love how he talked about the anti-gay protesters should be ashamed of themselves and they would be an embarrassment to their grandchildren. Sean Penn is an americal hero, phenomenal actor and so very real. He knows who he is and he doesnt apologize. My other favorite moment was when the oscar winner for best screen play, Dustin Lance Black movingly spoke to lgbt youth across the country telling them that gay was okay. His heartfelt words brought me to tears.

Obamaispres:
I didn't know if you saw this interview after the awards. It's kind of off topic, but he talks about Obama as well. You're right; we have to love Sean Penn.

anna- the video you linked to was a recap of the show, not of Penn. Is there another link, I'd love to see it and couldn't find it on my own.
-
You're right; sorry. I can't figure out how to send the link directly. If you hit on the link I did proivde and then scroll down to "where Sean Penn speaks", you can watch kind of a press conference with him (which was what I meant). He sounds really tired but answers their questions eloquently and wisely. I adore him. There's one with Penelope Cruz that is good too but I didn't watch the other ones.
